Lets get down to business

I looked out the window, watching a bird on the windowsill stare at me. It wasn't a creepy or murderous stare, more like affectionate. I have always loved birds, crows especially, and i found that feeding them and treating them nicely actually made them trust me. They bring me shiny things and follow me to make sure i don't get hurt, but having been born with a quirk means i don't need to be watched over. I do appreciate it though, plus its pretty cool to have a whole murder of crows following close behind me. 

As i stated before, i have a quirk. with my quirk i can manipulate light and shadows. I know that they are extremely different, but my parents had a quirk marriage. I say had because they got a divorce almost two years ago.

I live with my mom in the house we shared with my dad and two siblings before he left, taking my younger brother and sister with him. I have my own room now, and a small area that i call my art studio. In reality, its just my brothers old room, but i needed a place to store my art stuff. Its pretty great, just being us two. She doesn't need to buy as much food, and the two of us take up less light and water that all five of us combined. So with the less amount of food we buy and the less money spent on bills, the more we can do in our free time.

In my free time, I look at the campus of U.A. Its my dream school, since all of the good pro heroes are from there. I have heard from many people that my quirk could get me in through recommendations. I think it would be cool to make it like that, but i cant get cocky so I constantly train my body physically by going to the gym after school. I cant really train my quirk since its highly illegal to use them without permission, so I just have to make do at an abandoned beach.

My light manipulation can only work with a light source within 100 ft of me. I cant just use any light that doesn't have a nearby source, which makes it hard to use some times. That's why i always carry a flashlight or lighter with me. The strength of my quirk also depends on the amount of light i can get from said object, so i usually have a flashlight. My other quirk, shadow manipulation, allows me to extend my shadow to touch and manipulate other shadows. The farther away the time is from noon, the better. That means shadows have more reach distance before i have to extend away from the actual shadow source. This work great because the only thing stopping my shadow manipulation is lack of nearby shadows. (Ok so i don't think i explained that well, so just think of Shikamaru's shadow manipulation. That's exactly what it is.)
