CONNIE ASHER WAS her school's resident bad girl. Her fishnet tights adorning her legs and black eyeliner circling her eyes at all times, it was no wonder that people thought she was unapproachable. That, and the fact that the last guy that tried to ask her out ended up with a black eye that lasted for two weeks, and Connie ended up with a suspension that lasted for two months.

So, her big secret was one that would surprise anyone that knew even a smidge about the girl — she was a superhero, kicking criminal's asses left and right throughout the city. Most people that knew her would think of her as more of the super villain type, not the kick ass, take names hero that went by the name of Star-Girl (well, according to the media).

However, by day she was an eccentric punk girl with approximately three friends; Todd, Marty, and Dave. Why them? It was a simple friends from childhood case, and if they boys were being honest, she intimidated them too, but they loved her anyway. Especially Dave. When Connie wasn't around, he was succumbed to relentless teasing by Todd and Marty because of his gigantic crush on the girl that had only gotten bigger as the years progressed.

"What are we talking about?" Connie slammed her hands on the table of the store, making the three boys jump in their seats, before sliding in next to Dave, who took an unnoticed gulp in.

"Paris Hilton's small tits." Marty replied, earning a groan from Connie.

"Dude, that's so unbelievably sexist. Shut the hell up." She reached over, smacking him over the head, the boy wincing at the pain that sprung through his skull.

"Ow! Connie, I told you not to hit me that hard!" He cradled the back of his head, the other two boys snickering as Connie shrugged nonchalantly.

"We were also talking about how Dave feels bad for Chris D'Amico." Todd added, earning a glare from the aforementioned boy.

"You feel bad for him? Alright then, why don't you go talk to him." Connie shuffled back in the booth to make space for Dave to get out, cocking her head towards the boy that stood browsing through comics.

Dave sighed, unable to say no to the girl (which she full well knew and was 100% taking advantage of), and got up, walking cautiously towards Chris, who smiled at him as he approached.

Before Dave could talk to Chris, however, his bodyguard stepped in front of the young boy, towering over Dave, "Fuck off." He spoke, and Dave stuttered before practically sprinting back to the table, his friends laughing their asses off at Dave's misfortune.

"You poor son of a bitch." Connie chuckled, patting Dave on the back, causing his cheeks to turn bright red.

After browsing the comic books, the group of friends left the store, happy with their purchases. Connie had bought Batgirl of Burnside #1, her favourite rendition of her favourite DC heroine. Who'd've thought that a punk like Connie Asher was a comic book nerd?

As Marty parted ways from the group, Dave, Todd, and Connie made their way through the alleyway as a shortcut home, but were stopped in the parking lot by two men that held their hand out.

"Money. Phones." One of them demanded, and Dave and Todd immediately scrambled to get their things from their pockets, whilst Connie scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"No." She laughed, all four of the people surrounded her turning to look at her incredulously.

"Connie!" Dave whisper-yelled to the girl, "Just give them your stuff!" To which Connie shook her head, standing defiantly in front of the men.

"What are you gonna do? Kick my ass? I'd like to see you try." She turned up their nose at the two men, who looked at each other.

"Give us the bag as well." The man directed to Todd, and Connie put a hand out in front of him, stopping him from handing over the bag.

"No way dude! That was expensive! I'm not gonna let you hand it over to some guys who think they're tough." Connie turned back to the men, "Now give my friends' shit back."

The two men laughed in her face, causing the girl to clench her jaw, the two boys behind her stepping back, whilst Connie stood her ground.

"Look, I don't wanna have to hit a girl, but I will." One of the men attempted to intimidate her, stepping forward.

"And I don't wanna have to hit a pussy, but I will." Connie took a step forward, shoulders back, ready to defend her friends, "Now give. Their shit. Back." She enunciated each word, talking a small step forward so she was almost touching the man.

The one that she was closest with grabbed her wrist, to which Connie flipped her hand, grabbing him and yanking her arm around, flipping his body over so that he landed on his back.

"Holy shit!" Dave yelled, scrambling back further along with Todd as the other man charged towards Connie.

As he was about to reach her, Connie slid under his legs, ignoring the pain that rushed through the back of her thighs as they scraped across the concrete, ripping the backs of her fishnet tights. Whilst his back was to her, she kicked her leg into his spine as hard as she could, knocking him to the ground. Connie stalked over to the men, stepping on one of their wrists.

"I said, give them back." She spat, and the man whimpered before holding up the two wallets and phones that they had taken, Connie snatching them out of his hands and giving them back to her friends.

"Holy shit Connie!" Todd exclaimed as they began walking home, "Where the hell did you learn how to do that?"

"That's one secret I'll never tell."
