Zayn

"Zayn, you need to come upstairs," Hannah said quietly, as she stood on top of the stairs, not wanting to wake my son.

I glanced at her, then down at my shoes which I had just put on. Hannah offered to take Zephaniah downstairs, while I got myself ready, along with retrieving Zephaniah's stuff.

"I'm the one cleaning the house, Zayn. It's okay," Hannah chuckled lightly as she noticed me hesitating about the fact that I was already wearing my shoes.

Blushing lightly, I jogged up the stairs, skipping one step each time. When I stood beside Hannah, she looked at me for a while, a smile and dimples appearing on her face before she turned to a door and opened it.

I smiled back by myself and followed her inside, realising this was her bedroom. Hannah turned on the lights and pointed at Zephaniah, who was sleeping on the blanket on the floor, arms wrapped around Cooper.

"Oh, God." I mumbled, the warmth of love I was experiencing at this moment flowing throughout my body, swelling my heart.

Fishing out my phone out of the back pocket of my jeans, I quickly snapped a picture, showing them to Hannah, even if she could see the real life situation.

"That is so cute," Hannah sighed, smiling at me. "I want to keep both, can I?"

I bit the inside of my cheek, not being able to suppress my smile. She liked Zephaniah. Who could've imagined. I mean, obviously I had noticed it before but somehow I still couldn't quite believe it, because again, when did someone ever?

"I don't think I'll be able to survive without him," I pouted, crouching down in front of Zephaniah and Cooper.

"Then we can keep them both, together." Hannah suggested, making me gulp- maybe even choke because, what?!

I glanced up at her as my cheeks flushed red, then noticing her playful smile, one of her eyebrows wiggling slightly. When did our tables turn?

I became shy, she became confident.

"They belong together," Hannah mumbled quietly, becoming more serious.

I nodded slowly, staring at the two best friends. "They do," I whispered back, not wanting to sound as if I needed to take Cooper home right now, because it was still Hannah's dog and I had to remember that.

Hannah glanced at her desk, squinting her eyes as they fell onto a pile full of unopened envelopes. I scanned them too, noticing a logo on one of the envelopes that seemed to familiar to me, yet I couldn't quite put my finger on it, which was lightly frustrating.

"Uhm, Hannah?" I whispered, fiddling with my fingers as I was thinking about about certain things as my eyes fell on the new dog present, wanting her to know for some reasons.

"Yeah?" She answered quietly, looking up at me with wonder.

I licked my lips, staring down at my socketed feet as I didn't know where to start. "Uhm, Zephaniah.. Samuel-" I stopped, frowning a little. "I got fired by one of my jobs," I spilled, looking up at her after a moment of silence.

"Really?" Hannah looked at me, sympathetically and I smiled a little, she was too caring for someone that didn't deserve it.

"Yeah, when uhm.. Zeph got his seizure and all. Because I didn't work," I hesitated, playing with my fingers still. "I couldn't quite come around, and Zephaniah got a meltdown in the store, ripped the dog out of its packaging and I lost it, but then you texted me and well, it just happened to be enough money for the dog."
