The room is dark. Red lights flash in the distance, I try to move my arms but my body is numb. Then the room starts shaking. Rubble starts to fall from the ceiling, causing me to cough. My throat is dry and feels like sandpaper. That when I hear the booming. It sounds like something huge is running. It gets faster and louder, sirens start, my ears ring from everything being so loud. Thats when i can make a muffled voice. "A....to.. B...s... Re....t..at..!" I sit up with a jolt. My heart racing and my skin crawling. I wipe the cold sweat off my forehead. And check the time. 5:35 AM. I gotta get ready for my first day at my new school in Texas. Great. What a wonderful day. As rains pours down on the roof creating a drumming melody. When I get out of bed it creaks eerily. "Anna. I set out a outfit in the bathroom for you for your first day of your new school!" I give a weak smile to my aunt and grab my towel and head to the shower. After a hot relaxing shower, I go see what my aunt put out for me. Its a blue strait-cut dress with butterflies on it. Um.. No. Thats something my grandma would wear.  I walk over to my closet and grab a black pair of ripped jeans and a long sleeve camo crop-top. Not my usual style but lets give this a go. I put on my old white converse and throw on a grey sweatshirt so my aunt dosent throw a fit over my crop-top. I look in the mirror and sigh. Maybe I should try. I throw on some mascara and smile. Ok this is an improvement to what I usually wear. Ive noticed the rain has stopped. Lets go. I walk down stairs and grab a piece of toast and a bottle of orange juice.
"Why aren't you wearing what I set out?"
"Um.. It didnt fit right."
She looks at me with disappointed eyes and nods. I grab my bag and head out. "Do you want me to drive you?" Rick says while reading the paper. "Nah ive got a ride" he looks at me weirdly. Think fast. "Um I bought one the other day while I was town....." You idiot! They won't believe that! My consious smacks its forhead for me.
"Where do you get the money..?" My aunt replies.
"Working summer jobs last year." I say with a stale voice. She smiles. Rick starts to say something but she cuts him off with "Thats great honey!" I give a flat and extremely fake smile and walk out. Holy shit. I would have died of they found out about bee. I take off my grey sweatshirt and stuff it in my backpack. When I open the old barn door bee transforms immediately. "Hey bee" I say with a warm voice.
"Ann- he stops his optics gleam as he stares at me. It feels like centuries later once I speak.
"Take a picture it will last longer" I say while he intensley stares at me. His face grows red. He looks away quickly and transforms. I grin. "Where too...?" He says with nervous voice
"School" I respond while I hop in the passenger seat. Knowing the driver seat is for bee. The car ride is short, And silent. I need to get some C-D's or something. Once we get to school I hop out and squint from the bright sun over head. "Schools done at 3:37 ill pick you up then" I turn around and he's already driving off. I hope I didnt create tension between us. I walk into my first class and sit in the back. I can aimlessly pick out the friend groups and see who fits in what clique. The preppys, the jocks, the quiet ones, even the druggies. Ive been each in different points of my past.
The teacher walks up tells us we have a new student. Great. Thanks man thats just what I need. Extra anxiety. He calls me up and tells me to introduce myself infront around 40 people. I can feel my heart beating out of my chest and the sweat beading on my forehead.
"M-my name is Anna. Anna Lavander. My eyes interlock with a boy sitting in the back. No. Not a boy, a man. He has pitch black hair. His arms are folded showing off his muscles and tattoos. He's wearing a plain white tee-shirt and black jeans. I can feel his eyes go up and down my body as if he was watching a current of waves. Thats what my stomach felt like. "Any questions for Anna?" Those words bring me back to reality.
