Present Day
Wolf POV
I woke up in a cold sweat, I felt something... something wasn't right. Tom moved out a few days ago, but he told me about a project he had been working on, called a Psychic Link. it links the psyche of two people, but only once. Once the link is broken, it can never be resealed, but ever since he put the link between us I've felt like something wasn't right, and I had to know that everything was okay with him. I grabbed the phone and dialed his number.
"Yeah, hello.....?" he sounded like he just woke up.
"Yeah, hey, hi, are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah I'm fine, why?"
"Because ever since you put that psychic link between us, I've had a terrible feeling like something was wrong."
"Yeah that happens sometimes, it's a kink I've been trying to work out."
"Alright man, I just had to check up on you." I've never felt more relieved in my life
"Oh, I've been working on another project too. Y'know how we can channel our chakra to specific parts of our body?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Well, I'm working on a piece of tech that takes that chakra and utilizes it like telekinesis. It looks like just a normal, but it actually contains a receptor that catches the chakra and makes it into a physical tool, like a whip or rope, so you can grab something without even needing a bulky tool. Wow, it sounds like he's had this idea for a while.
"Dude that sounds wicked!" replied excitedly "Have you got an idea of how to make this work?" knowing him, it's probably finished by now. He doesn't tell me about his ideas until he knows he can make it work.
"Yeah, I've got a prototype ready right now, come over and you can test it out." Knew it.
"Yeah, alright, I'll be right over." I slammed the phone, threw on my pants, and grabbed my car keys.
A Few Minutes Later, Tom's Place
I walk up and knock on the door "Hey Tom, it's me! Open up!"
The door swung open "Heeey, Wolf, come in, come in!" He rushed me inside and shut the door
"So this is what you've been working on? Dang, it's messy in here."
"Hey, just shut up and look at this." he held up what looked like a shiny silver Rolex
"Really, Tom, a Rolex? What's a dude like you doing with a Rolex? I thought you hated this expensive crap?"
"Yeah, but look at the face, it's not a Rolex, it's my prototype, I used a counterfeit watch that you took from the dead guy during your last job." I was surprised he kept that watch, he was supposed to flip it for a couple grand.
"Really? That's the ministers watch? I thought you were gonna flip it for a profit?"
"Nah, it's counterfeit. Go ahead, put it on, and channel your chakra to your hand, like you were going to form a Rasengan."
I began to channel all of my chakras to my hand and started to form a ball. To my surprise, the ball turned to a long rope, then formed lanyards at the end. It was a whip.
"Now, throw it at that barrel, like Spiderman."
I tried to throw the whip, but it stayed attached to the watch and extended toward the barrel. The end wrapped around it, and I pulled the barrel back to me.
"Wow, that works perfectly!" I tossed it to the ceiling, and it wrapped around the crossbeams, I began to reel it back in, bringing me up to the rafters. I pulled my collapsible rifle out of my satchel and unfolded it. I aimed around, testing how good of a position I was in.
"Wow, that's cool! I love it, it works perfectly."
"Alright, keep it then! I can make another one pretty easily!" Tom shouted up at me
I checked out the watch, and to my surprise, the face of the watch still counts time too.
I hopped down from the rafters and thanked Tom for the watch before going back out to my car
'Wow, this works really well. This'll help me on my next job, too.' I thought as I sauntered out to my car, already planning how I'll use the new gear....
