Ten years ago. That's how long ago it was when Garroth met Liochant. He was standing in the clearing, a crown of multicolored carnations across his head, his chocolate-brown hair blowing lightly in the breeze, and the two antlers extruding from his temples draped with moss, vines, and other colorful strings of flowers.
His face was hidden from Garroth's sight, as the mocha-skinned fae was crouched low to the ground, seemingly creating some sort of faerie circle of various types of mushrooms. As Garroth peeked from behind a tree, he could spy a tail, long and smooth, with a very soft-looking tuft of brown fur at the end. As the unnamed fae continued to work on the circle of mushrooms that grew ever larger, Garroth could distinctly hear the brunette's humming, soft, alluring, and hypnotic. It seemed familiar, like he had heard it years ago, in a past life, even, and never again. Soon, the fae began to sing, the lyrics in a language he had never heard of in his life, yet brought faint tears to his eyes as the bare, dirt-speckled mocha feet padded around the circumference of the circle, tending to each and every lone mushroom, until he deemed them all fit to grow alone.
Garroth, clad in a deep blue dress shirt, a pair of black shorts, and suspenders, peeked further from his hiding place behind a tree, shuffling his footing and, in his opinion, like an absolute dolt, stepping on a branch, cracking it in half underneath his hiking boots. As the fae turned around to face his unwanted guest, the blonde quickly slid back into place behind the tree, his heart rate quickening as he heard the leaves softly crunch under the fae's bare feet. "...Who's there?" The brunette called, tentative. "You shouldn't be this deep in the forest, I know you don't belong here, just show yourself." Garroth took a shaky breath. He was caught. He stepped out of the thicket, his hands up in defeat and his eyes full of shame and anxiety. "Oh!" The fae giggled. Garroth thought his voice was heavenly. "I thought you were one of those human hunters. Yet you don't seem to have a weapon on you." There was an awkward silence, until Garroth looked up at the fae's face.
Garroth has never seen a more handsome man in his life. He had a soft, semi-round jawline, high cheekbones, and big, beautiful doe eyes, in a comforting, calm, warm amber color. His nose was small and high, giving him an almost innocent complexion. He had reddish freckles dotted along his nose and cheekbones, seeming to travel all the way down to his shoulders and chest. He wished he could see the rest of the fae's torso, yet a fabric wrapping of what looked like vines loosely covered his chest, waist, and part of his legs. "Erm... my name is Liochant. What is yours?" The fae, who he now knew was Liochant, asked. "G- G- Garroth. My name i- is Garroth." He mentally cursed himself for stuttering. "Well, Garroth, it's not safe for humans to be this deep in the forest. If you wish, I can take you to the edge nearest to your civilization? I'm not allowed out."
Liochant was having a very difficult time keeping himself calm. There was a human, a human male and an attractive one at that, in his beloved clearing, the one place he could go to get away from the fae council. The human, Garroth, his name was, had curly blonde hair pulled back in a low ponytail at the nape of his neck, and some faint stubble growing in along his chin and cheeks. His eyes were a deep blue, like the ocean, and his jawline was strong and sharp. Liochant could see that Garroth's arms were rather muscular, and looked very attractive in his rolled up-sleeves.
"Yes, I'd love that, thank you! I was trying to find a supposed basalt deposit bear here and got lost." Garroth laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Well then, the quickest way out is that way," Liochant pointed toward a thicket across the clearing. "And make yer to watch your step. If you step in a fae ring, you'll be connected to this forest and never want to leave, which is sort of dark." The pair of men were silent for a while, until Liochant broke the silence. "What's the human world like?" He asked. "Hm? What do you mean?" Garroth retorted.
