[Adam]

I never saw the sunrise again after we had moved to the underground. It was safer that way. . . to be safe from them.

I couldn't tell if it was morning. I only had the alarm to wake me up and my watch to keep track of time. I kept blinking, trying to fight the urge to just lie in bed. With the comfortable mattress I'm lying against, the soft pillows that let my dreams escape and the warmth of my blanket beckoning me to wait just a few more minutes, I almost felt tired even after a good night sleep. The alarm was blaring at my face as I forced my eyes open. Enough blinking. I had a sister to wake up and things to do for the morning.

It took almost all of my energy and effort to coordinate with my arms and legs. My legs wobbled, my hands pushing against the wall for stability. Once I had the strength to walk properly, I went to the kitchen to prepare eggs and bacon. I placed them on the table before going to Zoe's room.

I knocked on the door to her room. I'd give her about a few minutes before barging in. I couldn't hear her moving so I opened the door. I lightly nudged her leg and whispering, "Wake up."

She groaned, rubbing her eyes at me, "Morning already?"

I nodded. "Unless my watch got it wrong, It's morning," I made my index finger tap on the watch on my wrist for emphasis, "Up and at 'em, little sis. You got a long day ahead of you."

She hissed, "And you? I'm not the only one with a long day."

"True."

I could see she is also having as much trouble as I was waking up. I almost giggled, "Breakfast is at the living room table. " She rolled her eyes and grumbled, "Where else would it be."

"In your mouth traveling it's way to your stomach if you hurry. Bathe afterwards and then change clothes. The appropriate clothes." I commanded. I could tell I was as annoying to her as she was to me. "It's like I'm still a baby." She glowered.

We rushed the eating. I had work to do and she had school to worry about. She went to the bathroom and, well, took a bath. I followed once she was finished and we went our bedrooms and changed. When we came out, I was in pants with a white polo, a blue blazer over my polo with a necktie of the same color. She had skinny jeans and wore a gray Adidas shirt. She also wore a leather jacket with a bundle of fur near the wrists. She also wore a charm I gave her last Christmas.

"Why are you wearing a jacket?" I asked out of pure curiosity. I also didn't want my sister to burn up and get cooked by her attire. She sighed, "If I was sitting directly on a spot continuously getting blasted by the air conditioning which, let's get this straight, I am — I would've been frozen to death without a jacket. I know it's summer. All the more reason why I should wear a jacket indoors." I guess that explains things. I nodded, "Just don't wear that in the car."

She mumbled under her breath, but I could just about hear her, "It's a convertible with an open roof."

I sighed in annoyance, "Fine. Just get in the car. "

As she went out, I gathered the used clothes we had in the laundry basket and placed it in the washing machine. As I did, I saw a few shirts I recognized. One was black with a mechanical half a heart print. I cringed at the cheesy line that came with it but it didn't stop me from liking it. I also found Zoe's floral patterned Hawaiian shirt with a smudge that looked like an insect. She liked the uncanny resemblance. I also found a few shirts that looked like it should be worn by a pair. I giggled internally at the thought of the both of us matching. It just doesn't sound like us.
