I woke up in a strange room, tied to a chair. It was made of dingy concrete, rough and damp, and the room smelled of mildew. The only illumination came from a solitary lamp that hung above me, casting a narrow beam of light around me. I found I could see pretty well in the dark, however, and could make out a man smirking in the corner of the room. He raised his eyebrow slightly when my eyes locked onto him and he sneered, swaggering over like he owned the place.
Soon as he stepped into the light he began "I bet you're curious as to what the hell is going on. Well let me explain it to you, furbag. I created you, my baby made you into what you are now, the summit of evolution. That means I own you and your little girly friend over there, kapeesh?" My stomach dropped and my head started spinning. This was the bastard who made me what I was now. He was going to pay, and hard. Rage began to bubble up into me and adrenaline leaked into my system.
He grinned when he saw the outrage on my face. He continued his little rant, "You were the first batch of test subjects, the ones before I enable it's contagious properties. You see, we wanted to make sure it wouldn't kill anyone, where would the fun be in that? But it obviously didn't, I mean, look at you! Perfection of the human race, though I did quite like the name she gave it, 'The Vulpen'. Now, as to why I've brought you here, I needed your DNA to perfect the virus, and with that I can turn the world! That, and you two will make good pets. After all, if people will keep crocodiles and lions, I'm sure I could find a buyer for the two of you once I'm done!" With that last part he grinned even more, and outrage like none ever to cross my face reached me. Good pets?! We're people dammit! I strained against the cordage that kept me in place with a wild look in my eyes, adrenaline dumping into my system with a fury.
He laughed. The monster disguised as a man stalked over to the door and said "I'll be back with my equipment later, it'll be a pleasure to make you the downfall of the unturned!" With a slam and clunk of a lock he was gone, and the restraints were beginning to creak with stress as I brought all of my might into the attempt to escape. Snap! My arms came free and I cut the rest of the feeble attempts to immobilize me with a claw. I know not where I am, what I am, nor where Tracy was being hid from me, but I do know one thing. We are going to get out, and there is going to be retribution. Not even the full force of hell's wrath could stop that now. Now, to find that little rat of a man and introduce his kidneys to his eyeballs...
The lock did little to slow me down, as my claws doubled as a lockpick quite nicely. As I stalked out into the inky blackness, I could barely see, even with my newfound night vision. Not a whisper could be heard as I moved, finding myself to be in a hallway lined with cell doors just like mine. There must have been hundreds down here... My only hope was that they weren't all full. From here I heard a muffled screaming, barely audible and I slipped away deeper into the dark, relying more on sound than light to guide me. As I came closer, and recognized the voice. Stealth be damned, I though as I broke into a full blown sprint. I didn't even know I could go as fast as I was now, practically flying along. I heard my heart hammering as I closed the distance. Ba-Dum. What could have happened to her?! I had to help her! Ba-Dum. What if she's injured? What if he's hurting her?! Ba-Dum. What if he's killing her?! Ba-Dum. I reached the source and peered through the keyhole, and that thumping sound missed it's que twice in a row as my stomach dropped a few hundred stories.
