[ CHRISTMAS SPIRIT ]

"Almost done..." Blacker muttered to himself, he was balancing on a swivel chair, stringing some fairy lights across the wall of his office. The whole room was cluttered with Christmas-related decorations including a tree in the corner, an excess of vibrantly-coloured fairy lights and other Christmas themed decorations hanging off the furniture and walls. The whole decorating business was a tradition Blacker once shared with his old friend Lopez, before a beyond unfortunate fate fell upon her the two would help one another decorate each other's offices with every Christmas related thing they could find. They would also organise a secret Santa with any agent willing to be involved. This was Blacker's second year organising everything without Lopez and it was no secret that things were most definitely not running as smoothly as they did when she was alive but everything was still working out.
Putting the final touches on his project, Blacker smiled to himself in satisfaction. He then proceeded to back into the the centre of the office to get a better view of the room. It definitely didn't look as impressive as it did when Lopez was involved but it still gave off a cheerful vibe nonetheless.
Deciding he deserved a jelly donut for his efforts, Blacker approached his door. When he opened it, however, he found Froghorn standing outside, poised to knock.
"Hello, Miles." Blacker smiled, he was too happy to even be annoyed at Froghorn.
"Blacker." Miles nodded at the man in acknowledgment, entering the office despite the lack of an offer to do so.
Eyes scanning the room, Froghorn made a face. "Still keeping up this childish tradition, I see."
"It's not childish." Blacker replied defensively.
"Right." Froghorn said, quickly changing the subject, "Anyway, a new case has been set for us. I'm here to deliver the information regarding it." He pulled an orange folder from the messager bag strung around his shoulder, placing it on Blacker's desk.
"A case today? Miles, it's Christmas eve." Blacker never complained about a case, never refused to research it but today was an exception, today was important to Blacker.
"Look, Blacker, I'm certain that this case is much, much more important that some celebration that comes around every year."
Blacker walked up to his desk, picking up the folder and placing it in one of this desk's draws. "No, Miles, it's not. Now if you would excuse me, I'm off to get a jelly donut."
Blacker circled around Froghorn, heading for the door.
"Don't you dare walk out of here, Blacker. LB will find out."
