The Bunyip is a large creature from Australian Aboriginal mythology that is said to lurk in swamps, billabongs and creeks, riverbeds and waterholes.

The origin traces back to the Wemba-Wemba or Wergaia language if Aboriginal people of Victoria, in South-Eastern Australia.

Descriptions of this creature vary. One account claims that the Bunyip claim that it is a water spirit from the Moorundi people of the Murray River. The most usual form is that of a giant starfish. Though many descriptions arent of a starfish.
