"I'm hungry. Do you know how to cook?" Sangwoo asked after a few moments in silence. Yoonbum's eyes widened, pink still filling his cheeks.
"I, uh, I guess I can make a few things. Bu- But do you really want me to?" Yoonbum stuttered, still finding it hard to breathe with Sangwoo being so close.
Sangwoo's eyes narrowed. "Yes. It'll be your apology for breaking into my house." The taller man preceded to shove Yoonbum towards the hallway. "Now get to it."
—————
Sangwoo sat at the table in silence while Yoonbum looked through the fridge and all the cabinets. He drew a long inhale with a cigarette in between his lips and then allowed the smoke seep out. He pushed up his glasses and watched as Yoonbum started to chop some vegetables. "Bum, do you live around here?"
Yoonbum paused his food prep. "Yeah... about a fifteen minute walk from here..."
"Do you live alone?" Sangwoo asked, taking another draw from his cigarette.
"Uh... N-no." Yoonbum looked down at his hands. "I live with my uncle and my grandmother." Yoonbum poured ingredients into a pot with broth in it, attempting to make some sort of soup. He pushed his sleeves up a little out of the way, revealing yet more bandages.
Sangwoo pressed his cigarette into the ashtray, snuffing it out. He glanced over at the wrapping on Yoonbum's wrists. "What about your parents?"
"They died when I was young."
"Is that why you cut yourself? Missing mommy and daddy?" Sangwoo toyed. Yoonbum froze.
"Aaaah..." The sound seeped from Yoonbum's mouth. He stirred the soup in the pot, and stared into it. Sangwoo was different than he thought he would be, different from how he acted at school. "I don't know..." Yoonbum muttered into the pot. Nearly a third of Yoonbum's body was covered in some sort of bandage, but his wrists were the only spot where the wounds were self-inflicted.
—————
"This soup isn't complete shit." Sangwoo said, halfway through his bowl. "Maybe I'll keep you here all for myself. You could be my own little housewife." A smirk covered the handsome face, paired with devious eyes.
Yoonbum stirred his soup around with his spoon. He wasn't sure how to respond to Sangwoo's words. Everything about this encounter was so weird; not at all how he thought it would play out. He didn't even plan on meeting Sangwoo, he was no where near ready for that. It was a big enough step to be in his house. And then he had to go kissing him. To say that was surprising would be a massive understatement.
"Hey, scrawny boy." Sangwoo interrupted Yoonbum's train of thought by reaching across the table and tapping him on the head. "What are you thinking about?"
Yoonbum jumped back in his seat, blushing. "Ah! Nothing! I just-" Yoonbum took a deep breath and tried to relax himself a bit. "This day has just gone so differently than I thought it would..." Yoonbum's gaze moved to the clock on the microwave. It was almost 6pm, and uncle would be mad if he wasn't home by then. "Aaah!" Yoonbum wasn't aware that so much time had passed. He stood up in his chair and looked about frantically, trying to gather himself. "I- I need to leave!"
"What do you mean? Do you have a date, scrawny boy?" Sangwoo did not move from his seat, and continued to take another bite of his soup.
"Eh, no, I just have to go home now. I'm sorry!" Yoonbum rushed down the hallway and started putting on his shoes.
"Hmmm, pretty rude to leave in such a hurry."
Yoonbum paused for a moment, shook his head, and then slipped on his second shoe. "I'm sorry! I have to go!" Yoonbum exited the front door and began running in the direction of his uncle's house. He had to make it home before 6, he had to.
Sangwoo sighed. He finished his soup and began putting the dirty dishes in the sink. "Well, I guess that's it then. Bummer." The phone in his pocket buzzed.
[Julia]: Hey! Looking forward to seeing you tonight! ;)
Right, I almost forgot. I'm the one with a date tonight.
