The light. It was bright, and it was shining through the old, shaggy curtains that were sloppily draping over my window sill, but it still looked really nice. I could feel myself sigh as I finally came to the realization that it was morning again.

I could hear the birds outside, chirping happily. The birds were rather loud today. I slowly rolled over until I was facing away from my window, and tried falling back asleep.

"Please, just let me sleep," I grumble to myself as as I pull my bed sheets over my head. I can feel the tiredness washing over me until I hear heavy footsteps followed by what appeared to be my door creaking open.

"Wake up, Tyler." I can hear the sternness in his voice.

"Ten more minutes." I mumble quietly.

"No Tyler, now." he says. My door creaks again and ends with a small thud. I lay there for a short period of time. Finally, I can sleep a little mor—

"Ugh!" I groan as I quickly jolt up and slap my alarm that was beeping loud enough for the neighbors to hear, until I violently swatted it off of my night stand only to have it plummet to the floor, beeping even louder.

"Tyler!" I hear my dad yell from the other room. I could tell that I was on strike two, and it hasn't even been five minutes.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned before properly getting up out of bed and kicking my alarm clock out of frustration, and eventually gently picking it up and shutting it off. I sigh to myself as it read 7:23 AM. Already? I really slept in for a little bit then. I was bound to be late on the first day back.

Oh well.

It was officially the first day of school. High school to be exact. Again. It was my junoir year though, so I'm looking forward to never waking up this early after I graduate the year after.

I head to my closet and quickly scan my items before pulling out my see-through long sleeve button up. I slip on some black skinny jeans as usual and grab the rest of my clothing before putting on my shoes and grabbing my bag, along with my phone. I head to my door and grabbed the knob, when the door opened before I could open it myself, resulting it to end up smacking me harshly in the face.

Great.

"Ow, dad!" I gasp from behind the door as I hold part of my face. That earned a soft chuckle from him.

"Sorry son. You better be gettin' your butt to school though. Classes starts in—"

"Seven minutes, yes I know. I gotta go. Hopefully I can make it." I say as I brush past him and to our front door.

Late. On the first day.

Doesn't help that I have bad anxiety either. Fantastic. I quickly scranmble to my designated locker and shove my belongings and tucking my phone into my pocket, along with my schedule after I've taken a look. I look at the time on my phone, which read 7:41 AM.

I guess at this moment I've officially decided that I dislike school with a strong passion, and that I really shouldn't be here. Why are we anyway? It's way too early for this, and I feel like it's pretty unacceptable.

Well, I lied about disliking school, cause I've actually decided that a long time ago but that's beside the point.

I walk to my 1st hour class, only to see that it was empty.
"Hmph. Weird." I mumble to myself as I scan the neighboring classes to discover that those too, are empty... I wander towards the commons area, near the gym, and that's when I hear faint chatter. I can feel my hands sweat and my legs shake an overwhelming amount once I get myself to peek into the gym. It's filled with our entire school with around 300 students. There is no way I'm going in there. Nope. Of course there's an assembly at the butt crack of dawn though. God damn it! I look away in disgust. Well, I guess this is my chance: I could leave. Yeah, I could. No one's here to stop me. I need more sleep too. This is a great idea. I smile to myself.

I head back to my locker and grab my stuff and sling my bag over my shoulder. I start walking to the nearest exit, and I pause near the door unexpectedly. Before I can actually process what I'm doing, I feel a hand on my shoulder and hear a whisper that is supposedly their normal, inaudible voice behind me.

"Hey man, where're you going?" I hear someone say. I turn around and face him.  He's a little shorter than me, and looks to be around my age. He's kind of built and has a gorgeous set of eyes that match the color of his worn out hoodie. His hair is captivated by his hat, much like I'm captivated by him and his look. Well, shi—

"I-I'm uhm, just... I was going to like, head out..." I barely stutter out. He gives me a small smile that makes my breath hitch up a little as he releases his grip from my shoulder, which makes it feel bare.

"Can I come with you? Quite frankly, I don't want to be here either." he says quietly.

"Yeah," I nod almost immediately, getting a small chuckle from the guy. "Sure thing——uh... What's your name?" I ask.

"Name's Joshua, but you can call me Josh." he replies softly

"Josh," I say, letting his name that is almost as beautiful as him roll off my tongue. "I'm Tyler." I say in a small, sweet tone. I grin at him.
I continue to the doors as he follows me and I open it before us.

"Ladies first!" I suggest, presenting the doorway to our freedom to him. He gives out a cute, small, breathy chuckle. He needs to not.

"I think you should be going first," he points out.

"You fricker!" I reply as I walk through first, hearing him smile behind his words:

"Good boy, Tyler."

A/N: Hello my fellow reader(s)! How do you feel about the first chapter?

I would like to say: Welcome to my below mediocre writing! ^-^ This is my first time writing a book that will may or not be finished, but I've read many fan fics from Joshler to Frerard (which to me is a little disappointing lol) to have an idea of where I may wanna go with this.

Even though this isn't much because this is only the first chapter, the beginning to my first cringey book, I would like to say beforehand that I appreciate you—yourself, and that you've even acknowledged this. It means a lot, and I mean it. I'm very open to any ideas or suggestions you may have. Feel free to contact me for anything.
Okay, I feel like this is too much for an introduction to some stuff 'bout the book in an author's note. Well, okay. See you guys next time! :D
