Kristen turned her back to see if Kyle had showed up yet as she walked away from Jenna and towards her first period class, she noticed Kyle, the 5'9 shaggy haired blonde walk towards Jenna and give her a quick peck. Kissing? They were already kissing each other? Kristen knew she was right when she said Jenna had changed because this was certainly not her. If their was anyone who hated football guys more then anyone it was Jenna and even more then that she hated P.D.A. (Public displays of affection) All Kristen could manage to do was laughed at the ridiculousness of what just happened and be glad that Jenna was no longer her friend. The rest of the day dragged on, as the last days always do. The clocked ticked slower then ever and it seemed as if each class were longer then usual. Everyone spent the day signing yearbooks, and exchanging hugs and goodbyes, and even phone numbers promising to hangout over the break even though they never would. Finally the last bell of the day had rung and everyone piled into the narrow hallway and poured out the building. Screams and roars of excitement for the summer break to come were heard in the hallway echoing off the walls. Kristen raced out to the parking lot so thrilled to find her mother waiting outside in the filled parking lot.
"Get in Kris it's summertime!" Her mom sounded seemingly happy which was odd. Probably because they were headed to Pebble Beach to the new lake house they had just bought. By they it was, April Kristen's mother and April's boyfriend a bachelor looking stud named Steve who had the looks, brains, and tons of money. He was an Oral Surgeon at one of the best California hospitals to date. They had been dating for a year now so they had decided getting this summer home was a leap in their relationship and a way to elevate to the next level. Kristen sure didn't mind considering she got a lake house out of the deal. The car was stuffed to the gills with pillows, blankets, sheets, bedding, food of all kinds, cases of drinks, and suitcases piled high with clothes. Kristen was kind of sad to be leaving town, leaving her friendship with Jenna like this, but with Pebble Beach four hours ahead of her she couldn't wait. Kristen walked towards the silver car, and swung the back seat door open.
"Hey Kris! How was the big last day? Steve asked subtly
"Good, thank you." Kristen replied smiling softly.
Kristen liked Steve and he loved her. He loved having someone to take care off, protect, look out for. He always wanted to be a father you could see it in his eyes.
"Now whose ready for the coolest summer at the best place to be?"
April asked all too cornily.
"We are!"
Kristen and Steve laughed in unison realizing how funny they sounded. They took off and headed on the road for what was to be a long ride to Pebble Beach. Kristen twirled her hair between her fingertips and rested her head against the cold car window as they drove listening to the fray on her ipod on repeat. Kristen woke up from what felt like a two minute nap rather then a three hour one, and noticed the car was turning into some sort of driveway. She lifted her head to look out the window too see a half glass half wood house in front of them. Huge sycamore trees lined each side of the house. And a huge lake with wooden dock attached, could be seen in the back. The house was beautiful. It was everything Kristen could have dreamed off.
