Jordan's POV
No. There is absolutely NO WAY i am going through with this. For 10 years i have been perfectly fine without playing a sport, I dont really feel the need to start now. And gymnastics? Please. They're all a bunch of sissies dancing and doing cartwheels. And Xcel team? It's just all the girls who didn't make the team. I dont need to be involved in this.
Not what my mom thinks, apparently.
My dad says either i throw a fit, get punished, and have to do it anyway, or I can just suck it up and do it and there may be rewards involved. Bribery, but...
April's POV
After a brutal practice, i walk with my sister, Bria, to the car where our dad was waiting. Since I was a year older and JO, I had more skills than she did on the Xcel. We were cool, though.
"Hey dad. I think Kristen tried to kill us today," I joked.
"Tim too!" Bria put in.
"Must be the summertime, no meets to get in the way of your intense conditioning?" My dad was completely on top of the game, always knew when practices and meets were, always ready to go and prepared for anything.
For the rest of the ride home, Bri and i discussed out plans for the rest of the summer. Since she practiced only 2 days a week instead of my 5, she had a lot more freedom, and she was planning on swimming competitively for her summer. I had no idea what to do with mine.
Jordan's POV
Dreading every step that took me closer to the dreaded place, I trudged up to the gym, where i was to become one of the flippy little things.
Even just walking through the door i felt out of place, seeing i was in shorts and a t-shirt; most of there girls were in colorful patterned leotards, with lots of muscles.
Technically I had to try out for the team, but since the 'Xcel' team was basically a fail team, i wasn't too worried.
The coach, introducing himself as Tim, first asked our names and whether we had any gymnastics experience. Being as my last name was Broen, I was called second and zoned out, uninterested in what the others had to say.
The first thing we did was went to a giant open floor. Many of the girls looked right at home bouncing on the springy stuff. Me, not so much.
Tim tested us on a few things, and just told us to do our best. I did okay, I guess. Since they didn't have a specific number of people they needed, it was possible we would all get in. Fail team indeed.
Bria's POV
The tryouts for new people were held today, I hope someone new will join my level, Bronze 2, since the summer is always when a few people quit as they finish comp season. One such person was Grace.
Anyways, everyone will find out next week who made it, then at the end of the summer is when people move up. Hopefully that will include me.
Jordan's POV
One long agonizing week later(not. I could care less if I got picked or not), we got our results. My mom handed me the envelope with fake awe, telling me,
"You may open it now, madam,"
"Why thank you, fair maid. I shall." I rolled my eyes.
This better be good.
"Dear Jordan Broen and family,
We appreciate you trying out for our Xcel team to train with us for the summer. You have been accepted into our team blah blah blah."
This is gonna be a loong summer...
