Chapter 23 - Scar

I am such an idiot. My dad and my brother would be cursing me out right now for being an idiot. I haven't stayed in one place this long since I started running and yet here I am, I've been here for 2 weeks now. Yeah Cordelia said I had fluid in my lung or some kind of infection and needed rest and medication but still, two fucking weeks? Sleeping in Knuckles bed at his moms house, he's been sleeping in his moms room, but that doesn't mean we haven't been having sex and lots of it.

I'm starting to get jumpy now, every vehicle I hear approaching, every stupid little noise, I think it's Alec and he's found me. I know he's going to find me any time now, I've never gone this long without seeing him.

"Why don't you come with me to the clubhouse? You must be going crazy hiding out here." Knuckles says as he puts on his leather cut

"What if Alec sees me? He could follow me to the clubhouse." I reply

"Scar this is Broken Demons territory, you're safe here. Alec wouldn't step foot within 100 miles of this town without the club finding out." He says stroking my arm. He leans down and presses his lips against mine softly

"Ok fine, maybe I can see that cute girl working behind the bar again." I smirk as I put my boots on

"Man do you have a type." Knuckles laughs and I look at him confused

"That's Indigo, shes my cousin and she's engaged to Bullet, so don't go flirting with her unless you want to piss Bullet off." He laughs as he opens the front door. He hands me my helmet and then walks over to his motorcycle. I climb on behind him and wrap my arms around his waist.

The freedom of riding on the bike calms me down, I've got my gun and knife and I'll be surrounded by gun carrying bikers, we can take down Alec's men, it's just if he realises I care for Knuckles, that would not be good for either of us. We soon arrive at the clubhouse and I follow Knuckles into the bar, where who I now know as Indigo is stood behind the bar

"I got some work to do, hang out here and I'll be back. I'm sure Indigo will keep you company." Knuckles smirks before kissing me and walking away.

"Hi, what can I get you?" Indigo smiles nervously from behind the bar

"I'll just have a beer." I reply, I'm pretty sure I'm safe here so a few drinks won't hurt.

"So Knuckles tells me you're his cousin, what's it like being related to a stubborn ass like him?" I smirk as she puts a beer down in front of me

"He's a real pain in the ass, but he'll do anything for the people he cares about." She replies, she still looks nervous, I guess I just got to get her to warm up to me

"Knuckles said you're engaged to one of these big biker dudes, what's that like? Marrying into club life?" I ask, just trying to make conversation

"Bullet is amazing, I'm a very lucky girl." That got her smiling, asking about her man. I ask her a few more questions about her man, Bullet and she's opened up a lot more, suddenly two big ass dogs come running into the bar followed by Killer

"Luna, Max" Indigo smiles as both dogs run over to her and she bends down to greet them

"Scar, I thought you'd gone into hiding seen as I hadn't seen you around the past two weeks." Killer says as he sits down at the bar beside me

"I just don't want Alec seeing me around your club, I'm surprised he hasn't found me yet, doesn't normally take this long." I reply as I finish my beer.

"Don't worry about that asshole, he gets within 100 miles of this town and I would find out, my club is well liked by the locals, so they would come to me if there was a threat circling." He says as Indigo puts a beer in front of him.

"I admire your confidence but you don't know Alec like I do." I reply

"Knuckles and my club won't let him near you even if he did show up. He cares about you you know, I've not seen him like this over a woman since his mom was alive." Killer says

"He seems like a good guy, that's why I don't want to drag him into this." I reply

"He is a good guy, he'll do anything for the ones he loves." Killers words aren't lost on me, the ones he loves, he's not talking about me, he can't be. We've only known each other a matter of weeks and I know I feel something more for Knuckles, but he can't love me, it's just sex.

Killer tells me a few stories about Knuckles, trying to make me laugh and I guess forget about Alec, but his final story about a drunk Knuckles 'surfing' in the back of a pick up naked is interrupted by the man himself

"I hope he isn't telling you anything embarrassing." Knuckles says as he walks up to me and kisses me. Kisses me, every time he leaves me or comes back to me he kisses me, that doesn't me he loves me though does it?

"No I was just telling Scar about your pick up surfing skills." Killer smirks as he stands up

"Oh man, I still don't remember doing that, I was black out drunk that night. You could've brought me inside instead of letting me sleep naked in the back of that truck all night, it was freezing that night." Knuckles replies

"Hey I ain't carrying your naked ass anywhere." Killer laughs as he walks away towards his office. Knuckles sits down beside me as Indigo puts a beer down in front of him and another one in front of me, I thank her before taking a drink.

As the evening rolls in the rest of Knuckles club fill the bar and I'm currently playing pool with a blonde guy called Ice, he seems a little creepy but I'm enjoying wiping the smugness off his face as I beat him. I'm not playing for money this time, just for fun. Even though I'm surrounded by huge guys and I've seen a gun on each one, I actually feel safe here. I spoke to a guy called Doc earlier and it turns out he was really close to where my dad was on his last deployment, they could've seen each other, it was nice to talk about my dad again, it's been too long since I could sit and remember him. I only have one picture of him, it's of all of us together outside the front of our house, before everything went wrong. I keep it on my saddle bag and it's all I have to remember all of my family.

"Fuck, ok I was going easy on you, rematch and this time I won't play nice." Ice smirks as he begins setting up again and I laugh

"You're on." I reply as I turn and grab my drink, I've had more than I would normally drink, but I'm not drunk, I know I'm safe here, safe enough to be drunk if I wanted to be but Alec could turn up any time and I need to be able to take out his guys.

"Come on Ice enough, you've had my girls attention long enough." Knuckles says walking over to me, I know he was watching me play, but he was sat with some guys talking so I didn't think he cared, and yes I noticed him call me his girl, he's more attached than me, this is bad, but at the same time I kinda of liked hearing him say it, when Alec said I was his it creeped me out, it definitely didn't when Knuckles said it.

Knuckles takes my hand and I wave goodbye to Ice as he guides me through the bar and upstairs, he pulls a key from his pocket and opens a door before pulling me inside.
