Part 7// birthday girl

Nova

Today is just a normal day. Jane changed the dead line to a week so now I have to find an affordable apartment in 3 days. It's meant to be raining all day so its a homework and apartment searching day in the tower. It's 5am when I throw my hair into a messy (almost school like) bun at the top of my head. I throw on my lifeguard uniform along with 2 hoodies, my FTW hoodie and my lifeguard hoodie over it. Don't judge its 3ºC and I knew that if we had to do a rescue I wouldn't be the one. I threw my maths, english and history textbooks into my bag. Since I'm doing homeschooling Hoppo has started to put me on tower every Wednesday to do my school work while also being paid. I grab my phone, headphones, glasses and bag and head to Bondi. I had to find a house today or I will be homeless. I reach the tower and I see 4 heads in the tower, then it hits me, its my birthday (yes I did forget). I open the door and everyone screams happy birthday. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOVA" Maxi screams into my ear. the rest of the boys all say happy birthday to me with a hug. Today we had Myself, Maxi, Whippet, Glick and Mouse on duty. Both Whippet and Glick go to set up the beach. I grab my english books from my bag and steal the pen of Mouse. "HEY! that mean" I just laugh at his childish act. 

"Can someone help me with this please" I ask around the tower. We were all in the tower as it was hailing. "Yeah sure, what question" Whip offers as he grabs a piece of paper and a pen to write it down. "State the missing numbers to make the following equivalence true. 10x + 6y - blank x + blank y =3x + 8y" I reply with the hard question. "7 and 2" He tells me. "Thanks Whip" I write the answer down. Am I really that stupid he worked it out in like 5 seconds. I close my maths book annoyed and open my computer. I NEED to find an apartment and soon. I open realestate.com and look at the apartments. I find one that you can see from the tower, it was a decent size and was close to work. "Mouse does this look good" It was a 2 bedroom apartment for $660 a week. "Nova why are you looking at apartments, you have one already that's cheeper"  I then realised I hadn't told them. "Yeah I'm getting kicked out in like 3 days" I take a deep breath as they will now want to help me. "Why didn't you tell us we could of helped you", I CALLED IT. "eh it wasn't really a big deal" by now the whole tower was joining in with the conversion. I heard a lot of 'just come live with me'. I couldn't do that to the boys. "Guys i'm fine I just asked mouse if it looks okay, chill unless you want to do my homework" I just hoped that they wouldn't chill. Whippet, Mouse and Glick all calmed down but maxi was still saying that I shouldn't have to pay double my rent now on a new apartment. I grab my English textbooks and threw it at him, hitting him in the face. I grab the pen I was using and threw it at him, this time he caught it. "Chapter 12 please" We all start laughing while Maxi just stares at the book, confused. I take my computer from mouse and open up a word document. You wouldn't know it but I have ADHD. 

I stare at the blank screen for 10 minutes till in the corner of my eye I see a family going out in the rip. I take off both of my hoodie (yes I was still wearing them because we broke the heater) and Mouse follows me down the stairs to the Rhinos, I take my shirt of so I'm just in board shorts and a 2 piece. To say I was cold is an understatement. We could barely see where we were going. we get there and I grab the board and run in. I paddle as fast as I could freezing from the water. I get to the family of asians and there are 3 of them, I wait for Mouse to back me up. we get them to shore and tell them not to swim today. We got to the tower I open the door to Whippet holding my hoodies for me. "The worst thought running though my mind was if they flipped the board I would be in jail" Mouse tells them as they laugh. "Maybe it was a good thing I wasn't focused" That was the only family on the beach. I start overheating from me just going in the water then to putting both my hoodies back on. I take my hoodies off and walk over to the door. "I'm going to sit outside" the look at me like I'm a crazy woman, and I am. "Nova your gonna get hypothermia" Maxi yells, breaking his focus from the text book. I walk over to him talk the textbook away "thanks for doing my homework maxi" I put the book away "anyone freezing?" mouse throws his hand up. I walk over to him and give him a massive bear hug. I let go and he's in amazement. "how are you so warm, your like a human heater" I laugh and I walk over to the medical bed and take off my shirt. I had heat rash all around my back and stomach, my chest and down my legs. "Hey Whip, Can you come here please" he walks around the corner and sees the rashes. "Novaaaaaa reallyyyyy" Whip said in a sarcastic tone. he drags me to where the others are and they look at all the rashes. Maxi touches the one on my back. "Fucking hell Nova" everyone started touching at least one of the rashes. "shit nova go sit outside and cool off before you start burning" I walk out and just sit on the steps. I see Hoppo walk out of his office and to the the tower. He doesn't notice me. I hear them talking inside. "Where is Nova" I hear Hoppo ask realising I wasn't there. "just sitting outside in her bathers" I see Hoppo look out the window and I just give one of those kid-ish waves with both hands and a massive smile on my face. "What did she do to you guys" I just laugh and realise my heat rash is still hot so I walk inside and Hoppo sees the rash thats on my back and basically everywhere. Hoppo touches the one on my back. "OUCH, Nova what did you do this time" Hoppo asks, but Mouse jumped in first "rescue" we all just start laughing. The best birthday ever.
