Will POV

Slamming the door shut, I run over to one of the other secluded bedrooms, Kayla right on my heel. As I open the door, I see my siblings rushing around the room trying to stabilize the girl in the bed.

Alex Montgomery, Hermes Cabin.

Upon arrival, it was quite obvious that she wanted to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. She'd run away from the Etiquette School of New York in Manhattan. She stumbled her way through the woods for days until she finally found the camp on her own.

She had a photographic memory and was probably the nicest kid I'd ever met from the Hermes cabin. She was claimed practically as soon as she stumbled into the camp borders and we immediately tried to make her feel at home.

Unfortunately, Julia Feingold and Alice Miyazawa did a little too good of a job with that.

Ever since Travis Stoll left for college, Connor hasn't been as prank crazy. He's been a lot more mellow and almost serious which is off putting to pretty much everyone.

Julia and Alice decided to take up the positions as prankster queens of the camp and have been living up to the titles.

A perfect example is Alex Montgomery.

They decided to tell her that the only way to become a real member of the Hermes cabin was to pull a prank on Ares campers and survive.

Alex obviously had some sort of rebellious side to her along with a way to make people angry very quickly because before she knew it, the Ares and Mars kids on visitation were ganging up on her.

She'd not only insulted Ares/Mars but also suggested that she was the strongest out of all of them and could easily win in a fight.

It all happened so fast that everyone had gone silent by the time they noticed the point of a javelin sticking through her sternum. They all stared, not quite knowing what to do as she muttered a broken sounding, "Guys?" before her eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed.

Sherman Yang was the first to react. He caught her and yelled obscenities to the campers, threatening whoever had done this to her. I heard the commotion and came out to see what was going on.

With Sherman's help, we got her to the infirmary and she's been resting ever since.

Things were looking good until the internal bleeding started and now me and my siblings are desperately trying to save this girl's life.

With all the excitement of things clattering and me shouting, it took all of us a while to finally hear the steady, never ending beep sounding through the room. We don't usually use machines but in special cases like Alex's we bring them out of storage.

"Get the thread! We're going to have to stitch this up you know! Austin, get the vial of..." my voice dies off. Soon enough, my siblings look towards when I'm looking at the monitor and stop what they're doing.

It's so silent, you could hear a pin drop. Or maybe that's just me. I stand there, looking at the monitor.

I've failed her.

I feel my eyes well with tears as the room becomes blurred. This eleven year old girl, defeated by a child of Ares, Mars, whatever! I quickly try and blink away the tears. I place my hand on my hip and stare up at the ceiling, with my other hand pinching at the bridge of my nose, I take deep breaths.

I can't show weakness.

"Alright," I clear my throat and clap one time, the sound crisply cutting through the tension filled air, making everyone flinch. "Someone get the-the cover thing-whatever it's called! Someone else inform Chiron that we're going to have another burial." My voice cracks on the last word.
