Chapter 5#
The taxi started and soon the girls were on their way back to work. Melanie remained silence her gaze wondering out the window. 'What if she calls Larry, no he's out in the next state on a business trip.' She thought. 'Maybe I could go on the internet and find someone.' As soon as the idea came to her mind she dismisses it, knowing they are a lot of crazy people on the net and it could be dangerous. She sighed not knowing what else or who else to think about. When it comes to the member of the opposite sex Melanie hardly know who to think about. She'd had her fair share of boyfriends but it always end up in a bad break up and hurt her more than a few times. And ever since her last relationship she'd never think or had time to be around the male species unless their workmates and she has no choice but to associate with them. Other than that she stays away from them as best as she can.
Larry and John were different though. She'd become friends with them because back in high school they were her lab partners and that was before she started dating. Other than those two she has no one else. Sighing again Melanie closes her eyes. Her father really drives a hard bargain on her ass. The man's obsess with her getting married and the only reason he even wants her married is that she'd be able to produce grandbabies for him. He probably doesn't care if she married a stranger all he wants is grandbabies.
Melanie scoffed at that, causing a weird glance her way from the driver. But she shrugs it off as nothing. 'He has a next thing coming,' she mutters to herself. Baby was as far from her mind as marriage was but she's gives her father a marriage, a nice sweet short one too. Because once the house's fully in her name she shall get a divorce. And as for babies, Melanie's certainly not going to have any, not for father shake. It's like that saying you can't have cake and bake at the same time. Similarly her father can't have a marriage and babies same time.
"Me... Mel this is your stop." Lauren said breaking her friend from her thoughts.
Melanie looked out the window and indeed this was her stop. She thanked Lauren ignoring her questioning look as she got out the taxi...

Melanie kicked off her shoes as soon as she enters her two bedroom apartment. It's a comfy apartment that fits her style. The walls painted in a creamy chocolate color she loves so much. Comfortable fluffy couch she purchases to make the place feels at home. The place is basically a two bedroom apartment with a reasonable size kitchen and bathroom, that consist of a shower and a bathtub which she plan on socking herself in after the day she'd had.
She flopped down on her couch deciding to rest her aching feet for a few minutes before she ran herself a bath. A small bark fills her ears in the small room. It came from the kitchen, excited she looked around and spotted her little white fur ball running towards her. Melanie gasps and picked up the small animal petting it. "Twila you good girl, did you miss me?" She cooed at the small puppy in her hand. The pup barked answering her question. "I bet you're hungry too." She said, which the pup barked again its tail wiggling happily. Placing Twila back on the floor, she raced to the kitchen knowing her owner will follow her. Chuckling Mel follow her going into the kitchen. She easily spotted Twila sat waiting next to her empty bowl. She smiled at her pup as she put the food in her bowl. Her aunt had presented her Twila on her birthday a few months ago. Twila was abandon by her previous owner at the vet, Mel aunt saw her and adopted her for Mel and since then Mel loves her puppy with all her heart. After watching her little fur ball ate for a while she decide to go and run her bath since she's already on her feet.
Heading for her bathroom her phone began ringing. "Guess my bath will have to wait," she told herself as she picks up the phone. "Hello," She answered into the phone.
'I honestly was about to put down the phone and come straight over there.' Lauren voice said on the other line. 'What took you so long?'
Melanie rolled her eyes although she knows Lauren couldn't see her. "You know the phone only just started ringing before I pick it up.' She pointed out.
'Whatever,' Lauren mutters. 'Anyways what's up, you were practically in another world earlier in the car today. Is it about your father you were thinking about?"
Melanie sighed into the phone, you could never get anything pass Lauren at all. 'What else would I be thinking about Lu? You know my father drives a hard bargain and he won't back out on it. Now that John has back out I have no one to help me.'
'That's not true you have me to help you.' Lauren reply
Mel laughed, 'What are you going to married me?' She questions.
'Ha, ha, ha very funny Mel, we both know I can't marry you. But I do have someone in mind you can.' Lauren said.
'Who is he?' She asks suddenly interested. This is her chance she thought.
'Nathan I know it sounds crazy.'
"You damn right it sound crazy!' Mel shouted, 'Nathan really Lauren he's the only one that came to your mind? You already know of my dislike for him, so why him Lu?'
"Mel just listen to me for a sec, I'm only suggesting him to you because I think he might agree to marry you. I heard he's about to get deport because he over stay and needs a citizenship. I was only thinking that you guys can come to an agreement. Like he marry you in order to obtain a visa which only take a three months the latest and you get to get your dream house from your father. It's a win, win on both sides." Lauren finish. "All you have to do is just talk to him and ask him." She added.
"I can't go and ask him to married me, it's highly crazy." Mel exclaim.
"Just think about it, he can be your ticket to getting what you want."
"Yes but-..."
"I'm not forcing you, it's just a suggestion. Anyway I have to go now." Lauren said.
"Wait," Mel called. "How did you find out these things about Nathan?" She asks.
"Oh I have a friend who works at the embassy. I went and visit him and saw Nathan name on a list. I ask him about him but he wouldn't tell me anything at first. But with a little female persuasion you'll be surprise to know what you can get out of it. Anyway I really have to go now bye..." She said and hung up.
Mel hung up her phone as she plays over her conversation she had with Lauren in her head. It's a good idea she thought but could she follow through with it? Married a man she so hate? Pondering over it in her head Melanie decides to take her bath now.
Finishing her bath Melanie came out the bathroom. The nice smooth relaxing bath eases her mind but still left enough for her to ponder over. As she walked to her bedroom she notices her bag on the couch, in it has Nathan numbers on a piece of paper. After contemplating for a while she decides to call him. What's the worst could happen she thought as she strolls towards her purse. Twila came out the kitchen barking happily.
Getting the card out her purse she headed to her phone. "Should I call him?" She asks her pet. Twila gives off two barks. "Your right I should call him, I can do this." She said as she punches in the numbers from the card. The line began ringing right away.
Suddenly Mel felt her heart pace pick up and her stomach doing flip flop. She began getting nervous, deciding to hang up before someone pick up. But before she can act on her action she heard the familiar cold voice answers into the phone with a simple. "Hello,"
