Chapter 6#
"What do you mean there isn't any space?" Melanie asks frowning at the man before her. "I've called before and made reservation for two at 2pm." She explains.
"I'm sorry miss but your name wasn't recorded in the reservation book and as you see there isn't any available table I'm afraid you have to eat somewhere else."
Melanie couldn't believe her hears, she'd made reservation at one of the finest restaurant. How could her name not be recorded in the book? She'd made sure the person she talked to record her name correctly. What will she do? Nathan will be here soon. What will she tell him? She'd already have second thoughts to just discuss what she wants.
"Something the matter?" Melanie jumped at the voice behind her and when she turns around she notice its Nathan. She stared at him he was dress in a causal shirt and pans. Melanie couldn't help but notice that he looked handsome as ever. Immediately as the thought came she shook it out her head. She needed to focus on her situation instead of checking Nathan out.
"I'm sorry but it seems there's a mishap in our reservation. We'll have to eat someplace else." Melanie explains. "Would Blake's be fine with you?" she asks. Blake's was a nice restaurant but not as fancy as Bloomers.
Nathan looked grim and she contemplates on whether to repeat her question again. Heck she was contemplating many other things on whether to discuss the subject she really wanted to get over with. Maybe this was a sign. She thought. A sign that she shouldn't be here with Nathan.
"Excuse me for a second." She barely heard him said before leaving. She watches as he went towards the man she was speaking to just a few minutes ago. She couldn't make out what he said but by the looks on the man face it must be something really intimidating she suggest. Nathan returns to her alone with the man tagging behind.
He stepped forward. "I'm sorry miss your table will be ready in a second." He said. He turned to Nathan and bowed before leaving.
Melanie blinked surprise at what just happen. "What did you tell him?" she question.
Nathan shrugged his shoulders. "Nothing much, other than the fact that I know someone important, anyway shall we." He said motioning for them to go sit. Melanie felt he was hiding something as he wanted to get off the topic but she dismisses it. She has her own worries to deal with as how she's going to form her request.
Following Nathan towards their table the man set up for them she took a seat and Nathan seated across from her. A waiter came up to them. "We offer you one of our finest wine, complements of the manager." He said and he proceeded to pour the wine in each glass. "If you're ready to order please wave your hand." The waiter said leaving
"I was a bit surprise that you called me Ms. Williams. What is it you want to discuss with me?" Nathan asked as soon as the waiter left. He wasted no time getting right to the case.
"It's more of a request." She said offering him a small smile.
He cocked his head to the side. "A request," He repeated.
Melanie watched him carefully as he pick up his glass of wine. "I want you to marry me."
Nathan almost choked on his wine and Melanie made a face. Maybe she should have waited after he finishes drinking his wine.
"Marry you?" He asks as soon as he composes his self. "Isn't that a bit rational Ms. Williams?"
"It's a bit actually but in the end we both get what we want." She said, deciding to use her friend tactics which she used on her. "I'm in a great dilemma Mr. Castile I wanted to obtain a house from my father but the only way to do that is if I get marry. My friend whom I was to marry decided to back out unexpectedly, and now I only have a week to show my father I'm marry or the house will give over to charity."
"And where do I benefit in this?" Nathan asked. He sat up more fully, his face serious.
"Due to my friend I heard you Mr. Castile is about to get deport out of the country, unless you provide the money to apply for a citizenship. In this way you can benefit, I'm a legal citizen if you marry me its guarantee that you get your citizenship, without paying any gross amount of money. Once everything is over we both go our separate ways. It's a win, win situation." Melanie finish. She waited for a respond from him but he remains quite staring at her. Melanie felt nervous all of a sudden, he must have thought she's crazy. Who wouldn't? One time she hate the guy next she's proposing marriage to him. If it was up to her she'd think her self's crazy too.
"I'm sorry you must think I'm crazy. I'll take my leave." She said gathering her purse. Melanie felt so embarrass she was positive he must be thinking a lot of things about her, since he remain so quite. Pushing out her chair she got up.
"Wait." His voice echo in her hears. She stopped watching him closely. "I'll agree to marry you, but." He leaned forward a devilish smile on his face. "But only under certain conditions..."
