“Look, I’m sorry” Annabella said, approaching Sienna’s locker. They were new students here, at Ringswood High school. Sienna gazed into the distance as if ignoring her. Annabella paused and then realized that she was looking at something behind her and questioned, “What?”

“Oh my god,” Sienna gasped, almost dropping her books “It’s him.”

Annabella turned just in time to see Kyle weave his way through the crowd of students alone with a plain black backpack strapped around his broad, yet slouching shoulders. Annabella didn’t seem surprised at all. “You never told me that that boy went to school here too!” Sienna whispered, “Well, life is full of coincidences, and who cares anyways? He’s such a jerk and a loner” Annabella smirked, but Sienna didn’t hear her and cautiously trailed Kyle to the men’s washroom but Annabella stopped her arm just in time as she reached for the boy’s washroom door handle.

“What were you even thinking?!” she demanded, letting go of Sienna’s arm. Sienna blinked and then nearly fell backwards, as if falling out of a trance “Oh, I um… nothing.” Sienna shook her head and embarrassingly started towards her first class.

As Sienna rushed to her Geography class, she couldn’t help from looking left to right, then right to left again, just in case maybe Kyle was around. She was too busy looking for Kyle that she bumped into someone.

Sienna turned her head forwards and saw a girl with wavy blonde curls and bright blue eyes, shriek “JAKE!” and then that girl raised her hand, indicating apology “I’m so sorry! I must have mistaken you for someone else.” The girl sighed and ran her fading hot pink nail polished fingers through her shiny blonde curls, arms covered in bruises and scratches “There just has been so much on my mind recently. So sorry.” Sienna accepted the apology and introduced herself “It’s fine. I’m sorry too. Something must have been going on in my mind. Anyways, hi, I’m Sienna. You?” The girl smiled and reached her hand out for a handshake but then winced as if some part of her body were hurting. “Are you all right?” Sienna asked, rushing to her side and putting her bag down for her, then eyeing her carefully from head to toe. “Yeah, I’m fine. I just slipped and fell, and well, I’ve got a few back injuries,” she turned her head to take a glance at her shirt covered back, “I just came back from the hospital yesterday. Anyways, I’m Samantha Jade Allen, you can call me Sam for short.” She winked. Sienna took the handshake and smiled and said, “Hey, I recognize you… Aren’t you on the school netball team? I recall seeing a picture of you somewhere in the school hallways.” Samantha smiled “Haha yeah, new student?” Sienna nodded and then sat down and got her books out.

The sound of the school bell rang through the halls as the hallway became crowded and all the people rushed towards the entrance. Sienna pushed through the crowded hallways in order to get home in time to finish her homework. She felt a tap on her shoulder and instantly whirled around. It was Kyle. He stared at her with his piercing blue eyes. Her first instinct was to turn around and walk away, but something made her feet stick to the ground. Sienna gazed at him for almost a minute until he finally spoke up. “You dropped a piece of paper.” He said picking it up for her and handing it to her. Sienna quickly snatched it, then stuffed it in her History folder and made a run for the door.

The next morning, Sienna woke up and rushed to brush her teeth and then hurried downstairs. She poured herself a cup of water meanwhile chewing on her half cooked muffin. Her sister Megan was sat calmly at the coffee table, sipping her morning coffee as she flipped through the latest issue of a VOGUE magazine. She looked up as Sienna turned the door handle to go to school. “What’s the rush?” She asked placing her magazine onto the table carefully. “Well, I’ve got a Geography test and I don’t want to be late.” She lied, she was actually in hope of seeing Kyle again. “You guys have a test already? It has been only one week of school right?” Sienna turned around and nodded “Yeah… I think it’s a knowledge test or something.” She smiled and then walked out the door before her sister could question her any more.

When she arrived at school, she paused in front of the bulletin and read through all the activities they offered. She saw a poster inviting girls to join the field hockey team, and she nodded approvingly, she was quite good at field hockey. But then again when you really thought about it, she was good at a lot of things. She could beat most people in anything. That was her personality: competitive. And she always strived to win. She skimmed through the rest of the activities, but a flimsy piece of paper carelessly tacked in the corner was what had really attracted her eyes. “French Tutor for Kyle Morris…” she muttered and then grabbed a little slip with the phone number on it. After all, she was an A+ student in French, not to mention all the other subjects too. She held on to the phone number tight, she promised herself that she would call him later today.

“Hello?”

There was a slight pause at the other side of the line but then there was a cough and a reply “Hi, who is this?”

“Uh Hi, this is Sienna Williams. I would like to enroll as a French tutor for you.”

There was silence on the other end but then finally he replied “Okay. What time?”

Sienna smiled “Four thirty would be great for me tomorrow?”
