She nods and pets Buddy. Ok, maybe I should've told you this earlier. Well, I mean I can't, but you know what I mean. I lost my voice at a talent show. I signed up for it.
-Flashback to 5th grade talent show-
"I'M SO EXCITED!!! Mom, thanks for letting me enter the talent show," I yell, happily. Mom smiles at me, proudly. I smile my biggest smile. She laughs."Our next entry is a singing special!!" yelled the man on the mic. I take a deep breath, put on a nice smile, and walk onto the stage. I sing "Happy". Halfway through the song, my breathing slows. My lungs start to burn. My heartbeat slows down. I start to sweat. My vision gets blurry. The lights start darkening. I fall to the ground, passed out.
I wake up in a hospital. Mom was crying by the bed. Dad was YELLING at the doctor. I try to call out to my mom and dad. But nothing comes out. I tap my mom on the shoulder. She looks up at me and hugs me, crying. She cries,"M-mommy is s-so sorry. Mommy will try and help you." Dad runs to me. He grabs my shoulders and yells,"Daddy will find a w-way! Daddy will! DON'T WORRY!!!" I start to laugh, thinking this was just a dream. But mom looked at me with sadness and pity. Dad stares at me, tired and sad. I stop laughing and stare at my lap.
The doctor came up and said,"Sorry, but your son won't be.... be able to sing..... or... even talk... ever. I apologize. But I can't do anything to help. His vocal chords stop breathing out any more words." I cry. Mom faints. Dad yells.
-Back to the present-
Now I'm stuck like this. Mom comes in with a woman. The woman had blonde hair with hazel eyes. The woman waved and smiled at me. I waved back. She notices the little girl and apologizes,"I'm so sorry if Layla was bothering you. She likes to talk alot. She's my daughter. Oh, my name is Mrs. Candi. And I'm your aunt. And Layla is your cousin." Layla stares at me with amazement. I look at her and smile. Mom calls,"Come with me."
I walk with her into the kitchen. Mom pats a seat by her. I sit down by her. Then she starts to cry. I jump and try to calm her. Mrs.Candi tells me not to worry," Why don't you play outside with Layla?" I nodd, nervously. I walk outside. Layla was playing with Buddy. I wave at her. Layla looks at me and smiles. I walk up to them. Buddy rushes up to me and barks happily. I laugh.
Later, we were playing when a girl walks by and starts yelling at me. "Hey!!! Remember me?!?! It's Lynx!!" I smiled as she walks up to me and we high five. I hug her. She smiles, "I'm Lynx, nice to meet ya!". Layla nods. I laugh because Lynx was an old friend of mine back in middle school. But then, she moved away because her mom had found a new job, so they had to move away closer to the workplace.
