I walk to the front doors of the school, tired. Lynx laughed beside me. She smiled and gave me a thumbs up. "You'll like this school. Everyone here is cool and nice. Buuuuutt...There are some butt-cracks here." I smile and nod. She knew how to get me up. We've been friends since the Third Grade War. (Some kid started a food fight and Lynx protected me. That sounds cringy -w-)
Lynx rushes off to her class as I walk to mine in silence. I can feel eyes on me. Following me. Trailing me.
As I walk into the classroom, I immediately dodge a paperball aimed for my head. A boy calls out at me, "Watch it, man! I could've killed ya."
The teacher wasn't here yet, strangely. I sit in the back and sigh. It's gonna be a long day.
Students were everywhere. It's gonna be a long day.
The teacher wasn't here yet. I rub my forehead.
A group of girls were in the front, chatting and giggling. Another smaller group of girls were studying and taking notes together. And, there was a group of jocks joking and laughing. They started chanting like they won the biggest football game ever. One throws paper balls all around, hitting about everything in the room.
Then there were the goths. No offense to anyone whose a goth or whatever. They were whispering and radiating dark waves.
I turn to see what I didn't wanna see ever in this school from my exprience.
The Bullies.
They laughing, some were targeting their next victim. I accidentally make eye contact with one of them. I quickly look away and sit forward.
I can hear footsteps behind me. I gulp as I feel a hand on my shoulder and a loud deep voice call. "You." I look up to see a boy much bigger than me, with dark brown hair and icey grey eyes. He was dressed like a jock. But I knew better.
"What did you look at me that way?"
I shrug and look away.
"You scared?" He sneers.
I shake my head and stand up. He was about my size. Just a few centimeters.
"What a big boy you are. Still not talking, huh?"
I hesitate, not knowingto what to do next. Everyone had turn to us and it wasn't very helpful. It just made me feel more nervous and embarrass.
"Hey! Talk to me, bucko!" He shoves me.
I fall into my chair and fell to the ground. The boy smirked. Girls were wide-eyed and whispering. Some weren't looking. The boys were whooping. I get back up and sit in my chair. The boy grabs me by the collar of my shirt and is ready to punch me when suddenly the teacher walks in, saving me.
"Jason Tucker! Put your fist away and set that poor boy down! Quit disrrupting my class! Detention now!" The teahcer glares and hands him a piece of paper.
Jason seems annoyed and snatches the paper from the teacher, starting to head towards the door. Before he leaves out the door, he shoots me a threatening glare.
. . . . .
I hesitated. Lynx and I were in the cafeteria, sitting together. Some of the popular girls were glancing at me and her. We didn't mind. Lynx nods at them and looks at me. She whispers,
"They look down on people like me and you. It makes me sick."
I nodded and took a bite of my sandwich.
"We're stuck like his and they're over there, living the Barbie life." Lynx sighs.
I look at her, questioningly. What did she mean by that?
She notices the look. "They live perfecting. The Barbie life. They have the dreamhouse and all that other crappy stuff. We're living like humans while they live like so-called 'Gods'. "
I hadn't realize that til now. I just thought people liked to be mean and show off at others. I guess they have the reason too.
Lynx sighs again. "If we lived the Barbie life, what do you think it would be like?" She glances at me as I sipped from my water bottle.
I thought about it for a minute. Lynx shot a glare at a boy who looked ready to throw something at me. I nod her a thanks. She shrugged it off.
I thought about it some more.
Maybe if I lived the Barbie Life, my parents would still be together. We'd all be laughing together like all these other kids.
I would have a wonderful life, right? Nothing could really hurt that. I could even be able to get my voice back. But that hope faded away quickly. It's not possible.
I sighed and finished my lunch. Repeating those words in my mind, I walked to science class.
I stepped into class and looked around. Again, like my homeroom, everything was the same.
I sat downand got all my stuff ready. My nose feeling stuffy, I get up to grab a tissue near the door.
Abruptly, the door slammed open and my worst nightmare walked back in.
It was Jason. And he didn't look one bit of normal happy. Instead the evil kind of happy.
I gulped as he cornered me. Again, the whole class turned to look at us. Jason smiles crookedly.
"Did ya miss me, bucko?"
I shake my head, bravely and stupidly.
Jason snorts. "Okay, fine. Let's go. Right now. No teacher, no help."
My eyes widen in surprise as he landed a punch to my stomach. I immediately reacted and punched his mouth. His lip bled. I hesitated. He licked it up and his eyes pierced me.
"Let's go."
He jumps on top of me and starts landing more punches.
I tried fighting back, but my eyes went blurry and my throat burned.
