(M|n) stirred with a very light groan. His eyes fluttered open, and tiredly, he observed the room that he was currently in. It was shrouded in darkness, with the only source of light being a candle sitting on a vanity mirror which was positioned opposite the bed he was laying in. Shadows danced across the walls, creating an unsettling atmosphere.

As his brain slowly woke up, he came to realise that this was not the bedroom he always woke up in.

"Oh, darling (M|n). You're awake." Said a familiar and almost alluring voice. (M|n) rubbed his eyes as he sat up, watching the man emerge from the dark corner of the room.

"Rein. . .?" (M|n) tensed and frowned. "I-I don't want you, where's mum?!" (M|n)'s memories were extremely fuzzy at the moment. He had no idea how he'd ended up here. All he wanted was his mother. He desperately needed her comfort. His tiny hands trembled as he clutched to the blankets that surrounded his body. He had never been without her before.

"She's dead. She cannot come to you anymore, to hug you, to sing you lullabies. All that's left of her is memories, memories that will never bring her back." Reinhart snaps coldly. (M|n)'s eyes widened at the blunt statement. (M|n). . . No, he didn't want to believe it. He madly shook his head as tears filled his eyes.

"Y-You're lying! Mum's fine. . ." (M|n) blurted out but he found that he himself didn't believe those words. . .

"Don't be so foolish. You saw her bloody body with your own eyes." Rein muttered as he grabbed (M|n)'s cheeks and squeezed them lightly. (M|n)'s lower lip trembled as memories of the incident began to spill into his mind, bringing with them the grief and terror he felt in that very moment.

"Don't look at me like that, you ungrateful child. I saved you. If I had not, you would have bled out alongside your weak mother." (M|n)'s body trembled involuntarily, the weight of grief and shock settling deep down within him. He gritted his teeth as tears dribbled down his cheeks. He couldn't shake off the memories which were flooding back into his brain, each one only further intensifying the pain within his heart.

"M-Mum isn't weak!"

"That's all you can say after remembering what your dastardly father did to your mother?" Those words shut (M|n) up. He looked to his lap, unsure of how to reply after hearing that. He couldn't believe. . . His mother was dead and his father was the reason for it. His stomach began to churn as the metallic scent of blood reached his nose. It was almost as if he were back at the gruesome scene, witnessing the murder all over again.

He jolted when a stiff hand pressed itself against his lower back and gently began to rub small circles. (M|n) could feel the Reinhart's gaze boring into his own. He lifted his eyes after a moment or two. He didn't expect Rein's gaze to suddenly become gentler.

"Don't worry, your father is not aware that you survived his murderous rage. I saved you without his knowledge." Rein reassured (M|n). (M|n) didn't care about that though. He just wanted his mother back. He wanted to be in her comforting and nurturing arms. He wanted to forget what happened at least for a little while. He dropped his gaze. If only he'd been stronger, then maybe. . . He could have prevented his mother's violent demise.

"You may not feel alright, but with time, you will grow used to this feeling of grief and learn to live alongside it. I will take over the role of taking care of you. I used to be close to your parents. The thought that your father could think to do such a cruel thing. I will make him pay for his misdeeds." Rein's tone sounded hypnotic. (M|n) found that when hearing it, he instantly wanted to believe Karl without any doubt.
