Venus
We ran to an area near the subway. It was dark and cold outside.
"Hey! Guys I got them back!" I turned around huffing. In the dark I could see 2 figures coming up.
When they walked into the near to nothing light I saw a bloody faced Albert. Rico was helping him walk.
"The hell happened to you?" I hollered rushing up to his face. I ushered them to a nearby bench, but Albert refused.
"No! Of it hadn't have been for him," Albert pointed at Brandon, "we wouldn't be in this situation! We all could've been killed, especially you two."
Brandon started to laugh, "I know bro, but I got them back. That's what we came fo-"
"No! That's what you came for. We're support! I almost died! You and Venus were getting shot at. Rico and me barely made it out from Flaco's neighborhood. He came up and beat me the fuck up and threw some licks at Rico!"
"Do you honestly think Venus would have went in there in any other situation? No, she opened up to you not too long before this and she loves you so of course she wouldn't let you go in alone. The fuck?!" Albert was heated.
"I'm out." Albert started to walk off and Rico stayed behind staring at Brandon.
"R-Rico...?" Brandon was speechless for the first time in awhile.
"Nah, I'm out too dude." He turned to me. "Look out for yourself Venus." He soon turned and followed Albert.
It felt like the same exact night Brandon was jumped. There was nothing him or I could do, but sit there in pain. The only difference was we could go home that night, tonight it would just be us on this bench.
We'd be out here while Flaco's most likely out looking for us or having someone do so.
We wouldn't be safe after this.
Damn, my life's in jeopardy because of some shoes?
It's in jeopardy because I didn't stop to think logically?
It was both and I was about to end up fucked because of the actions of others and mine all combined.
Check out my new book called, 'Do or Die'.
