Chapter 16: Awkward Vibes

Tuesday

Today, I'm trying to avoid Rico. Not only because I'm embarrassed because of yesterday but because I don't want to make things more awkward and more complicated than it already is. So this morning I went to college by myself. I walked. The journey was like 30mins, which I happened to be late. I ran into Jay, and we had the same lesson, but I wasn't trying to go to lesson specially with him

"Yoo..."

"Jay...", acknowledging his presence

"Girl you know we have class right?"

I nodded

"Soo, let's goo girll"

We went to class. I wasn't really focused during class. My mind was wandering somewhere else.  Especially when Miss. Higgins rushed out once the head came and called her out. The head informed her that we'll be having a cover teacher for the rest of class. How I know? The whole class could hear their conversation and she came in and announced it to us. So we had a cover teacher to take over til class was over. The class was done and I think Jay expected me to follow him

"Ain't you coming?"

"Noo... I've got somewhere else to be..."

"Aight... Is everything good?"

"Yeah... yeah, why wouldn't it be?"

"Nun... it's just Rico..."

"Rico?? What happened? Did Rico say something!!?", I panicked

He chuckled, "Nahh bruhh. It's just the dude ain't been himself since this morning... Did... sum happen between y'all?"

I shook my head and power walked away. I went to Jacob's room. As I walked closer, I heard Jacob, talking on the phone. He sounded like he was in problems. I snuck up and eavesdropped into his conversation. It sounded like he was talking to a girl. I walked right in and Jacob, all of a sudden ended the conversation on the phone

"Yn... what's up?"

I closed the door behind me

"What's going on? Jacob... I've been calling you. Where were you yesterday?"

"I had stuff to deal..."

"Stuff? What stuff?"

"You don't have to worry about that, right now. But I've got a meeting right now so we'll talk later"

He was trying to get rid of me but I was not having it

"No!! No you tell me what's going on?"

He sighed, "Yn... Later, okay?"

"Alright...", I left the classroom and I slammed the door

It was about time the day finished cause I just wanted to go home. My phone was buzzing and I saw 3 missed calls from Jacob. And 5 from Rico. I was walking through the parking lot and from a distance, I saw Rico talking to his friends beside his car. I pretended as if I couldn't see him and at the corner if my eye I can just see him running towards me

"Yn... Yn wait, hollup!"

I stopped and waited for him to approach me

"Look, let me drop you home and let's talk"

"Talk?... There's nothing to talk about Rico"

"C'mon now. Well I want to... Just hear me out..."

I didn't say a word

"Come, let me give you a ride home, come on"

He took my hand and he walked me to his car
