(CYRUS' POV)
Ugh. I've been sitting here for an hour already and the game is still going. Buffy started Jefferson High's first girls basketball team! They're doing great! It's 34-33 against the Raptors. 4:03 mins left of the clock.
"Mind if I sit?" The voice sounds familiar. I look up. "Yes. I mean-uh..no? You can sit." Wow, nice one, Cyrus
Tj laughs and sits down next to me.
"So, you enjoying the game?" He asks me.
I reply with, "Oh yeaahhhh go sports!" Real smooth.
I see Tj smile in the corner of my eye and I wonder if I'm the one he's smiling at. Does the Tj Kippen actually think I'm funny? The captain of the basketball team? One of the most popular kids in school? Why is he even sitting next to me, the most socially awkward person you could ever meet. Should I say something to break the silence, or would that make things worse?
"So, how was your day?" Dang. He beat me to it. "My day was quite exquisite. We dissected frogs in biology and let me tell you, it was interesting. Although, I didn't much care for the smell." Crap. I rambled. Why do I always ramble when I'm nervous? Tj looked at me with a big smile, "Wow, really? That sounds cool. All I did today was practice for basketball." I give him a nod. After feeling like 1,000 hours, the scoreboard screeched and the crowd broke out in cheers. Jefferson won 42-38! I jump up to make my way down the bleachers to congratulate Buffy but of course, the worst has to happen. My shoe got caught on the step of the bleachers and I slide down 6 steps onto the gym floor. "Cyrus! Cy, are you alright?" I look up to see Tj standing over me, holding out his hand to help me up. I take it, he pulls me up and gives me a pat on the back. "Y-yeah, I'm fine, thanks." I give him a smile. OH MY GOSH I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. This is sooooo embarrassing😩
Buffy runs over, "Hey, Cyrus! Did you enjoy the game? Did you see those 8 points I made!? Oh my gosh did you see that girl that pushed me to the ground while I was trying to block her? Did you see-" I cut her off, "I saw everything! Great job,Buffy! I'm proud of you!" I give her a huge hug and we say our goodbyes. I got a call from my Mom, she
tells me she's outside. Just as I'm walking out of the gymnasium, Tj Kippen gives me another opportunity to completely embarrass myself in front of him.
