Basically Usnavi running to get back to Sonny and finds him in the Bodega.

Usnavi POV
I was running through the pitch dark Barrio, trying to make it home to Sonny. Dios mío I hope he's ok. Gunshots and screams ringed through the air which made me jump. During blackouts, it's like the whole Barrio turns into an ugly version of itself. I tried my best to call Sonny but he doesn't answer his phone. Pendejo why does he even have a phone? I finally got to our street when I heard yelling coming from the bodega.
oh no.
I barged in and my stomach dropped. Sonny was fighting back this much bigger guy, almost twice his size, and failing miserably. Two others were looting and tearing the store to pieces basically. The man pinned Sonny to the wall and held him there with his dangly legs hanging in the air. I filled with rage. Anger I didn't even know was possible to feel. "Oye get off of my primo comemierda!" I screamed and tore him off of my smaller cousin.
He slinked down the wall and his eyes went wide when he saw me, however I didn't get a good look at him because I was too busy pummeling the big dude. I was a short and lanky guy. The De La Vegas are not known as tall people, but the rage and adrenaline pumping in my blood had me fight with 10 times my usual strength.
Eventually, the thug limped out of the store with his two minions following his trail. I ran out and yelled at them, "Don't you three ever step a foot in this barrio again!" I exhaled sharply when I heard a light wincing come from inside the store. Oh god Sonny.
I ran back inside the store and knelt down in front of Sonny. "Jesus Sonny what on earth were you thinking 'Cuz! You could have gotten killed! I was worried to death you weren't picking up any of my calls- you should have just gone home-" I went rambling because of the panic until I hear Sonny sniff and I looked at him. Really looked at him, I saw how badly he was hurt. He had a black eye and a busted lip. His arm looked bruised too and by the way he was gripping his stomach it wouldn't surprise me they landed a few blows there too. "I'm fine 'Navi just a bit scratched up," he said dismissively.
"You and I both know your not just 'a bit scratched up'"
He wouldn't look at me, not even for a glance. We stayed like that until he started to break down and what was once a dismissive and quite Sonny turned into a frantic version of himself.
"I was so scae'd Cuz'! Thugs were throwing stuff at the windows an' shit! Pete tried to distract the vandals while I brought the grate down but the stupid grate wouldn't come down!" He points to the outside yelling through his tears. Each word he said was like a knife to the heart.
"I know I shoulda left but I had to defend the store cause the stores all we got and I didn't wanna let you down! But then those thugs came and all I had was ma baseball bat. But they were strong and they beat me and hit me against the counter," He paused, almost hesitating what to say. "I thought I was gonna die 'Cuz. I-I didn't wanna die" He said, his voice cracking.
That was the last straw for me. I pulled him into the tightest hug of my life. He started crying while I held him and rocked him back and forth. His sobs were muffled by my shirt which was now damp with his tears. We weren't always the most upfront affectionate cousins, but we cared about each other deeply.
"I'm so sorry primo. I will never leave you again." I said to him while I held him in my arms.
He shook as he cried while I did my best to comfort him.
"Hey, hey, it's okay now. I'm here no one's going to hurt you. Your safe, your safe."
His breathing eventually steadied and he mumbled something in my shirt I couldn't make out.
"Hm?"
"I said I love you 'Navi"
My heart felt a pang of emotion and my eyes started to get a bit glossy.
"I love you too mijo."
And we just sat there in the dark, watching the sun rise over Washington Heights.
