8. So Not Nice To See You

A few months later...

February.

I cough under my breath, trying to be discreet. I've been sick these past weeks and since then, I always have a sore throat, some nosebleeds and I've lost my appetite, though I don't know why.

"Alex, hurry up ! Jake is waiting for us with the guys and he said he was leaving in five minutes !" Kate shouts as she starts running outside the school's building.

I immediately follow her. "Wait for me Kate !" I scream back, jumping over backpacks, which makes her almost fall.

"Please, I know you can catch me easily !" Katherine answers, not even looking back.

I try to catch my breath while running faster. I have an enormous headache and my ribs are hurting, yet, I don't back down, I keep on following her.

I don't stop, and when I walk on the crosswalk, I turn my head to see a car. I don't move, I just stare at it and brace myself for the impact. Suddenly, a hand shoots from behind and grips mine, pulling me back. I slam into someone and close my eyes, too tired and feeling dizzy.

"Watch where you're going, Lion." a deep voice says. My eyes open by themselves, I push the arm aside and pull myself from the person.

"Lahote, so not nice to see you." I tell him. Paul Lahote. "Thanks for pulling me back." I say before leaving without another word.

"Hey, hey ! What is going on ?" he asks.

"Why the heck does it matter to you ?" I turn around harshly, staring in his eyes coldly. Since the day we met, I've hated him. He's just a jerk and an arrogant human being who only cares about himself. We often fight at school and he likes to put a show everytime we do so.

"Nevermind." he mumbles as he walks over to his friends.

I stare at him, perplex at his words and attitude. But I decide to let it go and head to Jake's truck, where my friends are waiting for me.

"We're going to the beach, do you want to come ?" Jacob proposes while I close his car's door.

"Thanks, but I don't think I should. I'm tired and plus, I promised William I'd be here when he finished school." I tell him.

I enter home and let my backpack fall on the floor as I jump on the couch and fall asleep. I'm woken up by William who see

When we get home, I feel so lightheaded that I just sit on the couch and fall asleep. I'm woken up by William who is standing near me and looks pretty worried, his eyes wide.

"Why do you have blood on your face Alex ?" he asks me.

I don't react for a moment, before rushing to the bathroom. William is right, my nose is bleeding like a water fountain, meaning that I already have blood on my shirt. I take a handful tissues and apply them on my nose, while keeping my head up. Will stays outside the bathroom, clearly afraid by what he has seen.

I decide to take a quick look at myself in the mirror. I have big bags under my eyes, which is no surprise because it's been decades since I got a good night sleep. But my cheeks aren't as full as before and I always feel sick and weak. 

I reassure my brother before taking my phone out. I scroll down and find the number I was searching for.Jacob won't be here tomorrow, just like Billy. William will be here, but I can deal with him. I hesitate for a moment, before dialling the number. 

"Hey, Sue ? It's me, Alexandra. I need some help. Would it be possible for you to bring me to the doctor's tomorrow ?"
