42. I'm Having A Single Date

"What do you mean by 'He left.' ?" Kate asks me pretty loudly, making some people raise their heads at the noise. I gave them an apologetic look and take her away from them. We are currently at the mall, trying to find her a dress for her date with Embry tonight.

It's been two days since our fight and I haven't seen him since. After crying my heart out for a whole day, I searched for him everywhere around La Push : nothing.

"I told him the truth and he left." I repeat and she groans.

"It wasn't suppose to end like that : you should've kissed him, he would've kissed you back and you would have married him the following week !" she exclaims and I raise my eyebrows at her.

"Whoa. Embry made you as crazy as he is." I mumble after her ranting.

"Shush. I was always like that." she says as she sticks her tongue at me. "More seriously, I'm sorry, Alex." she tells me and I smile.

"It's okay, I guess. He'll come around when he's ready." I try being optimistic.

She nods and looks around us, until her eyes widen considerably.

"What ?" I ask her, bored out of my mind.

"Nothing." she squeaks. "We should totally go over there, far away from here." she says, taking my arm and pushing me.

"Hey !" I laugh before glancing at where she was looking.

Paul is standing in front of a lingerie shop with a girl. He's laughing at something she's saying while she puts her hand on his bare arm. She's pretty, no doubt about that : she has long brown hair, green eyes and curves all in the right places. And he's with her, kissing her on the lips.

"Alex..." Kate whispers, tugging me.

"Let's go." I mutter, keeping the tears away. I've cried enough over this idiot.

We fast-walk away, but I trip over my feet and fall on a plant, making some loud noise. Kate helps me back up as fast as she can and we run away.

I glance back to see Paul looking at me with guilt written all over his face.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid." I mutter, stuffing my face with some ice cream. "You're going to be all fat after eating a dozen bowl of this delicious ice cream in front of all those Disney movies."

It's been a day since I've last seen Paul at the mall and he still hasn't come to talk about what happened.

"I hate this town, this life, my life." I continue ranting while going to the kitchen to get my thirteenth bowl of ice cream. "But I love this food." I say, opening the fridge and getting caramel and vanilla ice cream. My favorite.

Tomorrow, the vampires shall attack. I'm scared, of course : what if someone dies or gets hurt ? It would be horrible.

I sigh before sitting on the couch. "What's next ? The lion king ? Nah... too depressing. Sleeping Beauty ? Nope... too sexist. The little mermaid ?" I smile when I come to this one. "Yeah, I love the songs."

I put it on and snuggle in my covers, putting the ice cream on my lap and taking my gigantic spoon in my hands.

"Oh, god." I mumble. "I'm having a single date."

"Are you talking to yourself ?" Jacob asks from behind me and I scream.

"Holly freaking peanut !" I say, hitting him. "Don't scare the shit out of me !" I shout, pausing the movie. "What do you want ?"

"Just wanted to tell you I'm going out to prepare for tomorrow. Maybe you want to come ? Bella told me Pixie hair wanted to talk to you." he proposes and I nod.

"Sure, I'd like to. But are you sure it's Bella who told you that and not Edward ?" I narrow my eyes. She hates me, why would she tell Jake that ?

"Fine, it was the leech." he mutters before taking my bowl of ice cream from my hands.

"Hey !" I scream, jumping out of the couch. "Give me back Joshua !"

"Joshua ?"

"I named the ice cream because he was such a good friend to me that I thought he deserved some recognition." I explain, jumping to try and get it from Jacob.

"I'm not giving you back Joshua. Get ready, we're going in two minutes." he tells me and I huff.

"Fine."

"Alice ?" I knock her door. "Jacob said you wanted to talk to me, what is it ?" I ask from behind her door.

She opens her door and I'm greeted by a flashy smile. "Come in ! I have some news that I want to share with you !" she tells me joyfully.

I enter her room and gasp. "Why is it so... pink ?" I let the last word with difficulty.

"Well, it's my favorite color, so why not ?" she giggles before motioning to me to sit down.

I nod, looking at her room. Everything is pink, from her ceiling to some stuffed animals on her bed.

"So, I concentrated on your case for the last few days. Weirdly, it got easier before yesterday, that's when I really worked. I saw snow, blood, and you standing alone, with red on your hands. It was strange, because the red on your hands didn't come from the blood, but more from burning things. I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to say." she says and I blink.

"I think I understood, continue."

"Okay, so you were alone at first. Then, a vampire came out of nowhere and knocked you out. That's all I saw because after, your future went blank. I'm sorry if it's all a mess, but that's what I saw."

"Do you know when this could approximately happen ?" I ask her.

"Tomorrow." she answers without a doubt. "The vision came to me immediately, plus, it's suppose to snow tomorrow. Add the fact that an army of vampires is coming tomorrow and you have the time." she explains.

"Oh. Well, I'll have to close all the windows tomorrow." I joke and she shakes her head.

"No need for that because you'll be here, with Edward and Bella." she tells me and I stare dumbly at her waiting for an explanation. "You're going in the mountains with them, tonight. You'll be away from the fight, with Edward and Seth to protect you. You'll be fine there." she says and I think this is a joke.

"I'm going in the mountains, with Bella and Edward, for a whole night and day ? I might not survive this, you know ?"

"Jacob will be there for the night, you'll have some family." she states.

"I'll have to take a camera." I mumble to myself.

"Why so ?"

"Jacob is in love with Bella, just like Edward. But Bella's with Edward and likes Jacob as a friend, though she wants him to stay near her. It'll be a show." I say to Alice. "Who will she choose ? "She's quite nice, you know !" Alice tells me.

I roll my eyes. "She's nice with you because you're the sister of Edward. I tried being nice with her, but I was not worth her friendship, apparently." I tell her, remembering the days at school, where she ignored me.

"Okay, okay. Just be here tonight at 8PM." Alice states and I nod before leaving her room.
