Go to @MinkaDesign for your request. This graphic book has just some random background stories/collabs and other random sh*t surrounding graphics.
I also have a graphic portfolio to see my old graphics if you'd like to burn your eyes.
Ciao :)
So I've seen some artists doing this, but I never really thought I made enough progress to actually post a progress chapter. Looking at the fact that I started at Word (not recommended) and now actually like my covers, I'm ready to do this chapter. (Lol drama)
Wait whut word? Yes, word. It was hell. Pictures kept shifting, limited filters and you couldn't blend. (Not that I knew what that was at the time). In the beginning I mostly made text-slap covers. Meaning that I only used one image and added text. (Steen papier schaar and the little guitar in "thuis" are an exception). I used word because it had a lot of fonts. Also, because it was the only program I knew that could "edit" pictures.

Yeah, don't wanna go back there. So I slowly discovered picsart. At first I only used it to filter my word covers, but then I found out you could actually layer pictures. First mistake was over-using the "overlay".

I didn't really like vectors back then. Or maybe I just didn't like them, because I was bad at making them. Whatever the reason, I just continued editing pictures

Then I suddenly really liked text-based vectors. So a cover in which the title is more important than the images. I guess I saw a John Green book doing this and wanted to do something similar.

And then my passion just faded away I guess. I made a few here and there, but just didn't really like them that much. Probably because I just couldn't recreate this teen fiction swirly vibe I saw on covers in bookstores.

And then suddenly, I decided to try it out again. I kinda got the hang of simplistic vector covers.

And 2018 was my year of the vectors. I just really liked them. My best ones of that year are these I think. I discovered the combination of textures and vectors.

And now we're here. I want 2019 to be the year I experiment more. I think I've found my comfort zone in these silhouette covers. I seem to make a lot of those lately, which isn't a bad thing, I just need more variation. Daring to make mistakes is really hard for me. Once I find a safe place, I tend to stay there. (I stayed way too long in the Word-zone. Big mistake).

For 2019 I want to evolve more in these artsy-edited covers. Experiment more with fonts and/or little drawings.

So I guess that's what you're going to expect from me in this cover book haha.
I just want to say thanks for all those people requesting a cover in my covershop to take me where I am now! I made so many for you hahaha, terrible ones too. And y'all kept requesting and using them anyway <3
Anywayssss my progress. Just wanted to share what I learned over the years (I feel old now). Actually my next step should be going to Photoshop since I actually do have it on my computer... Ah well maybe next time
