Sunday 9am

Kara woke up to the smell of pancakes in her apartment. As she got out of bed and walked towards the kitchen she noticed Sam and Alex were gone.

She saw a plate piled high with pancakes, fruit, syrup and whipped cream. Beside the plate she saw a note saying:

'sorry but we both had to get ready for work, enjoy the pancakes though.

Lots of love,
Alex and Sam

P.S. I made them not Sam so they are safe to eat.'

Kara got a fork and was about to dig into the delicious looking stack when she got an alert from the DEO.

She dropped the fork and sped off.

"What's going on director?" Supergirl asked as soon as she was in earshot. Alex spun around in shock "Supergirl! There was a huge house fire downtown and they need help." The director glanced at the footage and her sister was gone.

Kara arrived at the scene just in time to help put out the blaze. Then she entered the building to look for survivors, the super listened for signs of life. She was about to give up when she heard a heartbeat, it was faint but it was there. The hero rushed towards the sound and to her shock it was a baby, alive in the arms of a dead little girl.

The sight shook Kara but she knew she had to move quickly if the baby stood any chance. Instinctively she grabbed the baby and took off towards the DEO.

While in the air Kara said "I'm coming in hot with a baby that's in urgent need of medical attention!" "Copy that," Alex returned and started preparing the medical room.

Supergirl flew in and placed the baby on one of the beds. She slowly backed out of the room as Alex and her team got to work. The super hit the railing and slid down slowly as she started to process what she had seen.

Some time later, Kara wasn't sure how much time as it was all a blur, Alex exited the room and sat next to her sister. "It was touch and go for a while but he's going to be fine," she told her distraught sister. Kara silently wrapped her arms around Alex and sobbed into her shoulder a little bit. "What's wrong?" She asked knowing Kara had dealt with a lot worse and handled it all so much better.

"I don't know what it's just something about him feels familiar, like I already knew him," the kryptonian opened up. "Yeah I get that, I felt it to," Alex agreed "what about his family?" She continued. "He's the only survivor," Kara said as she stood up and made her way in to sit by his bedside.

Later on Alex contacted social services but they claimed that the baby doesn't exist and refused to take him. Kara was still at his bedside and they were both asleep. Alex was trying to figure out what to do with him when someone came up behind her and wrapped their arms around her waist. "Hello," Alex could clearly recognise Sam's voice. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?" The director questioned. Sam removed her arms from her wife's waist "I'm finished for the day," she informed. "Done!?" Alex was confused "what time is it?" "12:30," Sam replied. "I've been trying to find somewhere for him for over 2 and a half hours?" She thought out loud. "For who?" Her wife questioned.

Alex led Sam up the stairs and showed her the baby asleep alongside Supergirl. The redhead looked at her little sister "she's not taking this one very well," Alex said.

They walked out the room and leaned on the railing. Sam looked up at Alex "so what's his story?" She questioned. "He's the only survivor of a house fire this morning and social services won't take him," Alex started tearing up, "I just don't know what to do, I can't leave him here all alone tonight." Sam wrapped her in her arms "hey, you'll figure it out and if need be he could stay with us." Alex wiped her eyes "Really?" "Of course I'm sure we could find some baby stuff in the attic somewhere," Sam said then looked at her watch, "I gotta go, I'm picking up Ruby at one." They kissed goodbye and Sam left.

When Sam reached the apartment building she walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. She heard noise from inside, then the door swung open "Hey Mrs Arias," Willa said in an excited tone. "Hey Willa, I told you to call me Sam so where's Rube?" Sam wondered as she was shown in. Willa pointed to the dining table where she was stuffing her face. "Quill you didn't have to make her lunch," Sam thanked Willa's dad. Quill looked up from his plate "really because I believe her exact words were 'please feed me, Alex doesn't get home till later and I don't want food poisoning'," he shared. Sam looked at her daughter, and Ruby said "what!? I'm not even joking, me and her are thinking about getting a puppy so we can feed it food when you're not looking." Sam rolled her eyes "ok I'm not getting you a dog anymore and we were going to go get big belly burger for lunch but since you've eaten, I guess not." Ruby's lip started quivering "b-b-but." "Don't but me young lady, you brought this upon yourself, now go grab your stuff and let's go," Sam silenced.

They said bye and drove home.
