Anyway, around September, while most of the other demigods were at schools or with their parents, Annabeth was overlooking the reconstruction of Olympus. She was on her way there one day, but she saw a hellhound and stopped to kill it. She didn’t want any “Crazy truck drivers” hurting anyone. Mortals can think up some weird stuff. I mean, uh, no offence of course.

She fought it and beat it within minutes, but then she was captured.

See, Aphrodite has this crazy notion that she needs to make mine and Annabeth’s love lives complicated. Apparently, we’re also her favorite couple right now, so of course there is absolutely no way we can just sit back and enjoy each other for a while. Nope, she has to endanger us constantly and make us face tons of monsters and things like that. As if we needed another immortal who liked to do that.

How did I know it was her? Because she used a net. And not just any net, no, this was her husband’s net that he used to capture her and Ares together. It’s also the net that Annabeth and I were caught in when we were twelve and had to find Ares shield at Waterland, while trying to save the world.

So, I knew that I couldn’t get to her alone, and that I needed a daughter of the love goddess who could charmspeak to help me, but I couldn’t get Piper to help because she and Jason were at a school in California. She and Jason switched between here and New Rome since they didn't want to pick and chose one place and just ignore the other.

I needed a daughter of Aphrodite, but the only other person who could help was at school. Brooklyn Academy for the Gifted, or BAG as she called it. I asked Chiron how to get her out since I obviously wasn’t her dad, and he said to just go and ask for her. He would take care of things and make sure I got her out. He also said to get the other girl who went there too.

So there I was at BAG. I went into the office. It looked and smelled like a regular school, with brick walls and a carpeted office, but there was an undertone of paint, clay, and all sorts of other artsy stuff. I knew I would probably hate this place.

“Hi,” I said as the desk lady looked up at me. “I’m here to check out Lacy and Drew.”

“Sure. Could you sign here, please?” she said. I did. “All right. They’ll be here in a moment. Please, sit down while you wait.”

I sat down, but I am ADHD after all, and one does not sit still while his girlfriend is being held by gods. I’m pretty sure that a commandment somewhere.

Anyway, I was waiting, when I looked out the window, and I froze. I’m pretty sure my heart stopped for a second. Because right outside the window, coming toward me, was him
