Chapter 8

        The next day Rapunzel and I walk into school together in comfortable silence. We discussed that we would talk to Elsa today about if she knew about Pitch Black or a woman named Malificent who were after her. 

"Can we go find Hiccup and Merida first?" She asks, running her fingers along her long braid. 

I shrug. "Yeah, I guess so" I reply. "Should we tell them what we're going to do?" 

She nods. "Yeah, they deserve to know, they're our friends" 

We end up finding them at Hiccup's locker chatting among themselves. When they see us coming they immediately stop talking.

"Hey guys!" Hiccup exclaims awkwardly. 

Yeah, hi, uh, are you guys like talking to each other now?" Merida asks, squinting in confusion. 

Rapunzel slings an arm around my shoulder. "Yeah, we're closer than ever. I mean, all friends have their ups and downs right?" She grins. 

"Right" Hiccup replies, raising an eyebrow at us. 

"Ok, we need to talk to you guys about Elsa" I speak up slowly.

"Okay, shoot ahead" Merida replies, fiddling with her fingers. 

We explain to them Rapunzel's recent premonitions about Pitch Black and Malificent and how she's certain that they may be coming to Craft to find Elsa for some reason.

"So what does this have to do with us?" Hiccup asks after we're done explaining. 

Rapunzel looks at me. "We need to protect her and protect our realm from Pitch and Malificent" 

"Wait, are you sure that they're coming after her? And do you know when or why?" Merida asks. 

Rapunzel shakes her head. "I haven't found any of that out yet, but she was probably involved with them before she moved here somehow. Something bad may have happened and that's why she may have come here in the first place" 

"I think we should ask her," Hiccup says. "She's coming over here now," 

I look behind me and notice Elsa making her way through the hall of students towards us. Rapunzel takes hold of my arm. "Jack, I think you should talk to her. She seems to trust you more," 

"Um, OK" I reply hesitantly. I didn't want Elsa to think I was interrogating her but I need to know what was going on.

"Hey guys," She smiles softly when she spots us. My heart flutters in my chest; she's really beautiful. 

"Uh, Elsa, I need to talk to you for a sec" I speak up, taking hold of her arm and leading her away from our group immediately.

We stride outside and end up by the back of the school. She looks up at me with worry in her eyes. "Is everything OK?" She asks nervously. 

I bite my lip and look down at the ground. "We know that they are evil people coming after you Elsa; by the name of Pitch Black and Malificent," 

The air immediately grows tense. When I look up at Elsa, her eyes are wide and full of fear. 

"W-We need to know what you have to do with them. If they're coming here to Craft, we need to know how to protect you and our realm" I say softly. 

Elsa suddenly drops to her knees and stares at her hands which are trembling softly. I sit beside her and put my hand on hers. "Elsa?" I ask quietly.

She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "I used to work for them Jack," She shakes.

I remove my hand from hers in shock. "What?" 

"I was a threat to my palace of Arendelle because of my powers; I didn't know how to control them. I was lost and I didn't know what to do. Then they found me, they told me that if I worked for them that I would be less dangerous. I had to leave my sister behind to fufill my duties with them. But when I realized what they really wanted to do, I knew I couldn't side with them anymore. So I ran away to Craft. I thought I was safe here because it is a hidden realm, but they found me; and this time I know they aren't going to let me get away so easily," She cries. 

"E-Elsa, what did they want to do?" I ask carefully. 

She wipes tears away from her eyes. "They wanted to take my powers away. They have been collecting stolen powers for so long now, I don't know what they want to do with them but I know it isn't good" 

I tighten my lips into a thin line. Is that why Pitch tried to kill Sandy? He wanted his powers? And what about me? He was trying to steal my powers away as well. 

        I look back at Elsa and she's shaking softly. I put my hand on her cheek, and turn her face softly towards me. "Elsa listen to me, we're going to protect you OK? All of us. Our realm never gives up on one of their own understand?" 

She shakes her head out of my grasp. "Jack you don't understand. Together Pitch and Malificent are too strong for anyone to take on, they could wipe out this entire realm with just the wave of their hand" She protests. 

"Well we have to try. We can't just accept defeat" I argue. 

Elsa stands up. "No, I brought this problem here, I'll deal with it myself" 

I shoot up. "Elsa, you can't beat them on your own!" 

"It's my fault they're coming Jack!" She shouts. "I'm not getting you guys hurt because of me; you can't change my mind," 

I grab her hand. "Elsa, I won't let you do this on your own," 

"You don't know me well enough to care about me Jack" She snaps.

"Well I do care about you Elsa, and nothing's going to change that. I'm not going sit back and watch you get killed. I can't," I whisper. 

She doesn't reply but removes her hand from mine. "I'm sorry Jack, I need to do this alone" She trembles before running off. 

"Crap!" I shout, throwing my staff across the ground. I put my hands over my face and squeeze my eyes shut. I couldn't just watch one of my friends get hurt again, I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. 

I drop my hands by my side and clench my fists tightly; it was time to fight.
