With a gruff and a sharp pain running through my legs I landed hard on the ground. A bruise that would eventually appear. Leaning back arching my back I pushed my core so that my body would jump up landing swiftly back up on my feet. Sweat beaded down my face and my hair stuck to my skin creating an annoying itch. The sun blazed down heating my back shoulders up as I rolled them back stretching my neck hearing the cracks.
"You have to concentrate Mila, don't let me hit you." Shane said as we circled each other. "Mikiel, will not be so kind as he will do anything to distract you." he growled out. I felt my eyebrows furrowed together as the anger rose inside my chest. How dare he bring him into this, but this was the reason I was training for.
Dodging him as he lunged for me I handed my bamboo on his back as I flipped over him avoiding his own bamboo. He fell to the ground face first in the dirt as a small proud smile spread across my face. With a deep breathe in I fell flat on my back looking up quickly to see him on his own back swiping his bamboo across my feet.
"He won't be gentle, and he won't hesitate to kill you as you have already witnessed." Shane said rolling over and getting up on his feet pointing to where Mikiel had gotten me last time. My eyes glassed over as I looked at the scar that was bright red from my hip all the up and then around my back to my chest.
I remember as if it were yesterday, it only started as a wonderful day before it ended in blood. We were together at last, we found each other. His arms were warm as were the words he said into my ear. I sighed a the thought.
Mikiel, my soul bond, the one I would be bound to for all eternity. I didn't know much about bonds, what I did know was he way I felt when he was near. Something inside my tightened up as if I was holding my breath for far to long. Everytime our skin touched electricity ran through my veins causing my knees to shake.
We were so happy that day. It was sunny it was bright and it was beautiful. I was in the palace of the Cromwells where Cora let me stay after the lifetimes of trying to rebuild what was taken from us. I was just a simple person then never leaving the palace so that our uncle would not find me.
Cora taught me everything of whom I am and whom I am to be. Royalty, the last of the royal family that would bind the seven elemental families. It hasn't been bound since the day my uncle killed my mother the same day I found out about Mikiel. A shiver ran through my spine just thinking about it.
He found me in Cora's Palace. I was just one of Cora's ladies at the time, but my eyes were silver with lavender and anyone looking to carefully they would notice me. I was kept in the shadows only being taught and raised by Cora. It was late one evening I was coming back from a ride out. I could only go out after dark when Cora was already asleep and no one would notice me. He was in the stables taking care of his horse, a captain's guard. I felt him before I saw him.
"Shane," Annabelle said from the front porch. Shane smiled relaxing immediately against the sound of her voice. I smiled for them for that is what I had with him. I couldn't even say his name anymore as it hurt my heart to think about it. We had found each other and I made him believe he killed me.
"Come in dear," she ushered me in glaring at Shane as if he were in the doghouse. "Sit" she said sternly as she nodded over to the table and chairs that were our dining room. She rushed to the faucet and grabbed a bowl filling it up with water and grabbing her towel. She walked over to me setting the bowl and towel down before sitting directly in front of me.
"I'm sorry, anna-
"No you are not. Don't say things you do not mean girl." she hissed as she dipped her towel into the water wringing it out and started to dab at my cut above my eyebrow.
