Wait, what...?!
Could I have heard that wrong? There's no way I would be able to take that title from Remi.
"There's only one person (at the time) who I knew could break my barrier. And that's Seraphina. But that was until I met you." Arlo said.
"Arlo....I-I don't know." I stumbled over my words.
"Delta."
He stepped closer to me and gazed down into my eyes. My cheeks flushed lightly.
"If we're going to be honest with ourselves," Arlo started slowly, "You and I both know that you're stronger than Remi. The title of the Queen belongs to the strongest female student in the school."
"B-but Seraphina--!"
"I've tried, Delta. She doesn't want it. That's the only reason why Remi is the Queen. But with you here, you deserve the title." He reasoned earnestly.
I sighed. I don't know what I want.....or rather what was right in this situation.
"I-I really don't know, Arlo."
"With how powerful your abilities are, you can't just roam around acting like you're like everyone else. You're not. You're a god-tier, Delta. There's a reason why people like Seraphina and I hold titles as a Royal. And you deserve one too."
"Ugh!" I pushed Arlo's chest away from me. "You and your stupid hierarchy! Why does it matter to you so much, Arlo?! Why it so important that you have to keep people in this school in order according to what abilities they have?!"
"Would you want a low tier to rule as King?"
"I don't care! Being a royal doesn't matter. These titles don't matter! Because in the end, we all die. We all eat. And we all sleep. We're all the same, no matter how powerful our abilities are." I cried passionately. "Worthy or not, i'm not going to dismantle Remi from the throne."
I began to walk away, but his voice caught me in mid-step.
"Unbelievable." Arlo tsked as his barrier enveloped both of us. I stopped and felt my body go rigid. "Why do you insist on refusing to accept this?"
"I didn't want any of this! With how powerful I am, the cost of getting this wasn't worth it." I glared at the yellow barrier encasing us. "Let me out, Arlo. Or I won't hesitate to break your barrier again." I threatened as I curled my fists into a menacing red glow.
"Why, Delta?" He fearlessly stepped closer to me. "The cost of this, as you said before? You seem afraid. What are you so afraid of, Delta? Perhaps your....past?"
I snapped.
A blast of psionic energy hit Arlo square in the chest. He hit the wall of the barrier roughly as I raised a glowing hand towards his injured bodice. Arlo hissed as his body became enveloped with a red outline, grabbing his head in pain as he collapsed to his knees.
"Aargh..." Arlo squinted as I approached him, the barrier slowly cracking.
"I won't seize a title from someone just because i'm more powerful. I simply won't. So let me out, or you'll be suffering from more than just a headache." I threatened as my glowing eyes darkly bored into his.
His barrier dissipated and I immediately let up, leaving him gasping on the floor as I turned to walk away.

"Hey Isen! What you up to?"
"Gah!" Isen slammed his laptop shut and whirled around immediately to face me. "Jesus Christ! Y-you scared me!"
