They all could feel it. They knew this was truly the end of the Animorphs. They were scared.

It was truly a horrible scene. A boy with dark hair was propped up against a stocky girl with short black hair.

The boys legs were ripped off. Tears were dripping off of the girl's face.

A different boy with brown eyes and a serious face was crouched beside the two, saying comforting words to the one he loved.

A large grizzly with blood-matted fur was battling a monster only some feet away. The monster was winning, and it was clear the bear was slowing down.

Off somewhere is the distance lay a bird, wings tattered and neck broken.

A defeated Andalite was stumbling to the floor, his hearts beating their last pumps.

The Animorphs have come to death many times, and it always seemed like they could overcome it.

But now, they knew that they couldn't overcome this.

And as Ax dropped to the floor and twitched for the last time, as Marco bled out from the Andalite-induced stumps, as Racheal was defeated for the first time, there was no doubt in Jake's mind.

This is goodbye.

His hand found Cassie's slick cheek, and she turned towards him.

"Marco is gone," she whispered.

The sounds of the battle around them seemed to fade, and they were the last two left.

Visser Three's voice could be heard rumbling in the background, and his steps grew closer.

"Cassie, if you morph now, I can distract him while you get out of here." He whispered against her ear.

She instantly jerked away, shocked.

"No, no! I can't do that! I can't-" Jake cut her off with a finger against her quivering lips.

"Get the blue box, find people you trust, and make more Animorphs," he saw her shaking her head so he continued, sounding frazzled and scared yet commanding.

"The fight isn't over yet, Cassie. Not for you it isn't."

He was pulling away, away from her.

"Jake, it doesn't have to be over for you either," she pleaded, reaching for him.

He was too far away.

"Jake," she whispered.

<Ah, a heartwarming scene,> sneered the visser..

"Shut up," Jake growled.

Ripples of orange and black fur started to appear on his body.

Visser only laughed.

<Your little tiger morph won't hurt me this time. You'll die. And after I kill you I'll kill the girl by ripping her open and tearing her apart.>

Cassie slowly tore her eyes from the two, and gently lay Marco to the ground.

"Your battle is over Marco, and I hope you never have to fight again." She pressed a shaky kiss to his head, all the while ignoring the heart-wrenching screams of the tiger.

And suddenly, there was silence.

Cassie clenched her eyes closed, knowing what had happened.

She waited for claws to rip her open and tear her apart.

Instead, a soft hand rested itself in her hair.

"Cassie. It's alright. You're okay," a feminine voice spoke.

Cassie looked up, and was met with the sight of an attractive girl around her age.

"What-"

She was stopped short as she realized the scene around her. Visser and Jake were frozen in motion: the Visser's claws inches from Jake's vulnerable belly.

"Time is stopped, momentarily." The girl explained.

"You... you are an Ellimist?"

Throughout Cassie's travels and experiences, she had only met one species who was able to control time itself. That was the Ellimist.

"No. I mean yes. No, not really... well, it's complicated!" The girl got suddenly flustered. She sighed.

"The thing is, I'm really young, and since I'm so young I haven't acquired certain skills or been required to follow certain laws as older ones do."

"So what you're saying is that Ellimist is more of a title than a species?" Cassie asked wearily.

The girl snapped her fingers and nodded her head as conformation.

"My names (Y/N), and I'm here to save you. And your friends, of course!" She said proudly. She slightly deflated as she looked around.

"It seems I'm a little late though.. it won't be much of a problem. Now Cassie, you need to remember the exact moment that led you here. What moment in time led the Animorphs down this specific path?"

Cassie blinked at (Y/N) for a moment, before a thought popped into her head.

"Well, there was-"

And suddenly Cassie's ears popped so loudly she felt like her brain was popping too. She clasped her head and when she focused she realized so was somewhere else.

"Uh, Cassie? You good?" A familiar voice asked. Cassie blinked and looked up, and almost burst into tears at the sight of Jake

"What, did she just zone out on our super important meeting and not get yell out? Man, why don't I get the same treatment? Am I not pretty enough for you, Jake?" Marco batted his eyelashes at him. Rachel punched him in the shoulder, calling him a loser and other names.

"Leave her alone. She was probably just thinking about the best method for sticking a thermometer up a raccoon's butt," she joked warmheartedly.

Jake scolded them both before focusing back on me.

"Jake, I-"

"Hey everybody!"

Well that was interesting lol
