What is is your first memory of men being more important than you? Mine is in third grade. There was a little boy in our class that liked to grab girls bra straps if they were showing and let's be real everyone's bra straps show sometimes. He would lift them and let them smack against our skin. It really hurt sometimes too. When we'd tell the teacher she'd tell us that it didn't matter. She might of told him to absentmindedly stop, but never really made him actually stop. Now, as her being a fifty year old woman, I would expect her to understand that if a twenty year old man did this to a classmate in a college setting, it wouldn't be okay, so why is it okay for this third grader to do it to his classmates. At the time, I didn't think that much of it, but now that I'm older, I understand. Things like this is what makes boys think it's okay to touch a girl without permission. Schools prioritize boys education and lives over female students. It's things like this that raise rapists. It's things like this that create feminists. Are my rights not as important? Please look at third grade me and tell me that I'm not as important as that boy who lifts up my bra strap and lets it smack against my skin. Tell me that it's okay that he hurt me just ,because he has a penis instead of a vagina. Tell me that boys will be boys. Tell me. Tell an innocent child she is worthless. If you can't do it to a nine year old, why can you do it to a grown adult? There is no difference. Don't raise little boys to think it's okay. Don't raise rapists.
