Chapter 4: Welcome Home

Steven and I make it to the temple by sundown. Steven walks up to the screen door

"Ladies first."

I move as best I can through the door. Steven follows and directs me to a small "couch" as he calls it. I sit down, lifting my leg to place it on a table in front of me. Wincing from the pain. The gems I had seen earlier were standing in the middle of the room, talking to Steven. The tall pink one spoke first.

"Steven I know you want to help this gem but are we sure we can trust her?"

"Well she didn't attack me when I found her and she was crying and scared so I'm pretty sure she's just more scared of us than anything else. Just... let me talk to her."

Steven walks over to me and kneels down in front of me.

"Don't be scared Turquoise, me and the gems are going to help you."

I nod my head slightly

"Ok"

Steven stands up and gestures to the gems " We are the crystal gems, let me introduce you to them."

Steven walks over to the tall pink one "This is Garnet, our leader."

She adjusts her shades and smiles " It's a pleasure to meet you Turquoise."

He moves over to the short purple one "This is Amethyst, our goofball."

She nods with her arms crossed in a cool manner "Sup dude."

He moves over to the tall white one " And last but not least this is Pearl, our sword fighter."

She smiles sweetly "Nice to meet you"

Steven walks back over to me " Ok now that you know everyone we can take a look at your leg and gem."

Steven studies my leg, thinking to himself. It's a type of injury he had never seen happen to gems before. He was wondering if he could even heal her. But he knew it was worth a shot. He licks his hand.

"Um sorry this might be a little weird, but this is how my healing powers work."

Before I could respond he places his spit covered hand on my leg. I shiver slightly since it's very cold. He takes his hand off after a few seconds. Nothing changed, it wasn't healed and was still as broken as ever. Steven frowns, a tinge of worry on his face.

"My.. Healing powers have never not worked before...."

Pearl gasps " what do you mean it didn't work?!"

Garnet walks over to examine the injury herself.

"Hmm this is definitely a far more severe injury than we anticipated, we will need to find another way to heal her."

Amethyst asks in a squeaking tone "How will we be able to do that?! Rose was the only one who could heal gems. And if Steven can't heal her with Rose's powers then..."

Garnet interrupts her " We will just have to find another way to heal her."

Pearl gasps suddenly " Wait! What about Rose's healing fountain?"

Steven's eyes widen with excitement and hope " Of course! That's got to work!"

Amethyst chimes in "Well what are we waiting for! Let's go!"
