Zain grabbed the side of her head, groaning out in pain. She was suffering from the worst migraine ever.
She looked over at her bedroom door and noticed the grits that sat stiffly in the round bowl and two buttered toast. Next to the tray, sat a bottle of water.
"Fucking hate them." She mumbled.
She sighed, placing her cold hands in her lap. She played and fiddled around with her fingers, waiting until one of the men came to her door letting her know she had to get to work.
A quick 10 minutes had passed and no one came to her door yet. She then thought that maybe Adrik had blessed her with an off day.
Dragging her feet across the freezing marble floor, Zain took a hold of her tray and grabbed her bottle of water from off of the ground.
Placing the water bottle on top of her tray, she used her free hand to open up her bedroom door.
Some of the girls sat in the socializing room, whispering amongst themselves since we couldn't talk above a certain noise level. Some girls sat at the kitchen munching on their breakfast.
But most of the girls got to work extra early today. Because the walls were so thin in the building, you could hear the creaking of beds above.
Zain went to the only room number she was familiar with and softly knocked on the door.
Kim swiftly opened her bedroom door and smiled once she noticed it was Zain.
Zain entered, taking a seat on the edge of her bed.
"How you doing Zain?" She asked, taking a seat on the opposite bed.
Zain chewed on her toast, shrugging her shoulders.
"I came in here to see if you have any antibiotic pills stored off somewhere." Zain said, swallowing up the rest of her grits.
She placed her tray down on the floor, looking around Kim's room to avoid eye contact.
She just knew that Kim was looking at her as if she had two heads.
Kim looked at Zain, folding her arms across her chest. "And why are you asking me this Zain?"
Zain swallowed the lump that formed in the middle of her throat. "I'm tired Kim..."
"Please. I don't wanna do this anymore, and if you don't wanna see me suffer then you will do me the solid."
Kim immediately shook her head, disagreeing with Zain. "You think I want to see you suffer Zain!" She exclaimed, trying to keep her voice down.
"I never want to see you suffer, but you know that if I try to do something about it they'll kill the both of us! You know how ruthless they are! YOU KNOW THIS!" She pointed.
"You know what the fuck they did to Ky."
"If I give you antibiotics and you kill yourself, they are going to automatically know that it was me because I'm the only one that have access to medicine like that."
Zain stared at her blankly, completely not phased by the words that just came out of her mouth.
"Look Zain. You just have to stay tough!" She exclaimed, pounding her fist into the palm of her hand.
"Young girls are the root of this business. They'll be letting you go soon because you're getting older." Kim said, trying to make everything sound better though it wasn't.
"I'm not trying to hear that bull shit!" She screeched, nearly pulling at her hair.
"Tina didn't get out of here until she was damn near 26 and I'll be damned if I continue to go through this shit! This is ridiculous and sometimes I wonder why do you even do shit like this!" Zain yelled at Kim, pointing her finger all in her face.
