Chapter 6:

***Lauren's P.O.V ( skip to end of day )***

I walk out of my last class. It was a long first day and so much homework. Ugh.

Good thing me and Jack can work on English together and get that out of the way. When we chatted in the hallway he told me to meet me at the lobby and we can walk home together. Yah my brothers don't let me ride home with them! I think Jack lives like 2 or 3 houses down from me. I'm guessing we're going to his house. I should text them, they were probably home all ready, it's been forever where's Jack?

To: Grayson & Ethan ( group chat )

Hey guys! I'm going to do some homework at Jacks house after school. I think he lives like 2 houses away.

I sent the text and sat here and waited. After a little while I got a text form Ethan in the group chat.

From: Ethan

Okay. Be safe walking home we don't know if there's scary people in this town. And tell Jack I said no funny business.

To: Ethan & Grayson

Okay? What are we having for dinner?

From: Grayson

Amy and Tim are home but they have to leave for a week business trip so they left us 150 dollars so why don't we order pizza for us and get you a salad from subway.

To: Grayson & Ethan

Sounds good.

I send the text and see Jack walking up to me. I was sitting in one of the chairs. I got up and walked the rest of the distance between us.

"Hey where have you been? It's been like 20 minutes?!" I ask him

"Busy" he says kind of frustrated. I notice that he has like some lip stick on his cheek. It's not that noticeable.

"I can tell, you missed a spot" I said, pointing to the spot. He looked me embarrassed/angry and wiped it off with his sleeve. I giggled and started walking out the door. He trailed behind me not talking. We walked in silence for a while. I couldn't tell it was comfortable or awkward silence, somewhere in between. We got to my house and he just stopped walking. Okay? He's just standing there looking at me. This is getting a little uncomfortable.

"So.." I say after a while

"I'm sorry" he says out if no where really fast. I'm confused he has nothing to be sorry for?

"For what" I question.

"For being late" he says in sort of a "duh" tone.

"It's okay can we keep walking know" I say and start walking down the street. He starts walking with me evenly in the side walk. I was right he lives 2 houses away. I am good with numbers. We walk in and nobody's home. I set my stuff down on the table and took out my binder. I took out the assignment. Jack was looking through the phone book. He started to dial a number into the phone and walked out of the room. Who was he calling? He finally came and sat down with my at the table.

"If you don't do
This for homework you'll fail Mr. Dail!" I said trying to sound like Mrs. Pierre.

"An B is not failing!" he said giggling.

"Stop all that messing around! Aren't you humane!" He yelled in her voice. She said that to a kid in class today. He was to funny. I started laughing so hard and so did he. I couldn't stop laughing! I hate my laugh. I sound like I'm dying. He such a good friend. Friend? Yah I guess we can start out friends? Even through I don't really want to.

***Jack P.O.V***

"Stop all that messing around. Aren't you humane!" I yell trying to imitate Mrs. Pierre. She just started cracking up. She had a different laugh but I liked it. Of course I started to laugh too. She so was pretty. She looked over at me and tried to keep a straight face but couldn't and started laughing again. And in that moment I knew.

She was going to be mine.
