Wheezing

Letting sleep take my eyes,
I surrender my body to the bed.

Without any light at all,
I am comforted yet confronted by darkness.

I dream of melodic winds and blue chimes rocking me back and forth.

My breath, uneasy.

I am awakened by a creature with claws
piercing my head and my throat and my mind.

Before I open and close my eyes for the last time, I see an image of you, and I knew then it was my fault.
