Whether her mind denies it, definitely her heart admits that she is expecting a call from Daniel in less than three hours after her last conversation with him. She hates herself for being excited on the next call from the younger Monteiro.
She even recalls some instances in the past where Daniel patiently chats with her while she does her masterpieces. And whether she accepts it or not, those art works were the ones that were sold immediately when she decided to sell all of them.
It is a few minutes before the anticipated call, she could not concentrate on the simple bookshelf which she is currently working on. She has been working on the masterpiece for almost two hours already and yet she could not get it right. She has wasted a lot of wood already and such design is not new to her and mostly can be finished only in an hour.
"Why did you scrap it, maganda naman ah" Hans confusedly asked
"Hindi pantay eh" she replied
"Wag mong sirain, pwede pang mabenta yan" Hans commented
"Wag ganon Hans, hindi pulido kaya hindi magandang ibenta" Allona uttered
"I am the businessman here, I know if the art work will sell or not. And in my opinion, mabebenta pa rin ito despite your claim na hindi pulido. Itabi mo na yan at akong bahala dyan" Hans said
"Bahala ka kapag hindi nabenta yan, lugi ka" Allona said
"I am not only an art dealer Allie, I am also an art collector. This can be one of my collection too. Wala pa akong bookshelf na made of driftwood. So don't destroy it sayang naman" Han insisted. "Mukhang your artistic side is not functioning well today ah, why don't you rest first samahan mo si Althea na mag-siesta muna" Hans suggested
"Ok lang ako Hans, medyo matagal na rin kasi nung last na ginawa ko ang ganito. More than a month ago pa. I know I'll get my feel for the work maya-maya lang" Allie said. "Gusto mong mag-meryenda? Tara kain muna tayo" she added
"Busog pa ako but I can settle for a cup of coffee. Yeah, mag coffee muna tayo, baka inaantok ka kaya wala ka sa mood gumawa ng art works mo" Hans said
"Let's go inside, mag brew ako ng coffee" Allona said and both of them stepped out of Allona's working room to have a cup of hot coffee. Clarissa volunteered to brew the coffee for them so Allona got the chance to check on Althea.
"She sleeps very peacefully. She is very smart for her age and she seems to be at ease here, madalas ba sya dito?" Hans asked while Allona is gently stroking Althea's hair.
"Hindi naman masyado. Kapag walang lakad ang mga Monteiro that's the only chance that Althea can come with me whenever I come home here in La Union" Allona said
"Why don't you have your own para hindi ka na nanghihiram. Mabuti na lang hindi nagseselos ang parents ni Althea sa iyo" Hans commented
"Hindi muna siguro baka mawala ulit sa akin eh and I know that Kuya Victor and Laura understands that's why they let me be close to Althea" Allona said
"Are you referring to Aliah. Kaya ba iyon ang business name mo? You named your business after your daughter" Hans said and Allona nodded. "Where is her father?" he then asked
Allona just smiles at Hans and shrug off her shoulder "Tara na sa labas, baka gawa na yung kape natin" she said and walks out of the room ahead of Hans.
"I'm sorry for what I said, I was too insensitive" Hans apologized. "You don't have to answer it if you find the information too personal" he added
