"baekhyun!" a voice shouted through the speakers of the sixteen year old boy's phone at nine in the morning. baekhyun felt himself flinch before holding his phone away from his ear, checking the caller id."what is it, kyung?" he brought the phone up to his ear once again. baekhyun yawned in a low voice, making sure to not disturb his older brother sleeping soundly on the bed next to his.
"your shift is in half an hour, are u on your way?" his unamused already-knowing-the-answer tone entered his ears. that was when baekhyun quickly pulled his warm and fuzzy bright white blankets away from his body, sitting up. the commotion probably made enough sound for the other to hear because he said:
"get your ass down here, you rat." he snapped.
"shut up, i just got off the bus." he lied. it was obvious. "fine i'll be there in twenty." he sighed and hung up. without a sound, baekhyun creeped out of bed, walking towards his dresser, picking out the most mismatched outfit you could think of and slipped it on to his body. a yellow long sleeve mock neck striped with blue and red along with light wash jeans to go with. the boy hastily washed his face and teeth without a care, picking up his keys, wallet, and phone before heading out the door in no less than 12 minutes.
while strolling to his bicycle out in the front of his parents yard that was just laying there on the grassy field without a lock, he stared at himself through his camera app on his phone, fixing strands of his parted raven black hair until he picked up his bicycle, swinging one leg over the seat and onto the pedal, taking off. the ride to his work place was uneventful, arriving in seventeen minutes or so.
"the rat has arrived!" he announced, tiredly which successfully earned a few curious looks from the seated customers.
at that time, kyungsoo appeared from the back room and locked eyes with baekhyun's. it was the usual greeting look he'd get from him. a glare and furrowed brows.
"you really need to stop looking at me like that, bud." baekhyun laughed, lightheartedly. he jumped over the counter effortlessly and snatched an apron from the hanger, throwing it over his head.
"you need to stop jumping over the table, or else other people will begin to think that it's okay to do that." scolded kyungsoo. he received an uninterested yawn in response.
the raven haired boy leaned against the table, arms resting against the marble counter top, hands clasped together with his back bent, pouting his lips. "i should've worn my glasses today, i can't see shit." baekhyun muttered.
"wear contacts." kyungsoo said in a straight tone.
"you think i haven't done that? i swear contacts hate me or something, they never get in there!" baekhyun growled, now standing up straight. the other boy laughed at his serious expression.
outside, a hand reached for the door handle, prying it open before stepping in. dressed in a pitch black puffy brand-name jacket paired with dark distressed jeans and the latest kicks, he confidently walked in hands in pockets toward the two boys.
"a lavender milk tea with tapioca." he doesn't even say please, but baekhyun gets it.
"hard day at work?" he casually questions as he pushes buttons on his cashier device, printing out the receipt.
the taller raises his brow with a questionable look on his face. "i don't work." he states. "and it's only 9:50am." his deep voice takes baekhyun aback. baekhyun looks up.
he blinks a few times, not knowing what to say. the two lock gazes, each holding different meanings. "o-oh, my bad." baekhyun's rosy cheeks decorated his face as he rips the receipt and hands it to the taller, who takes it. "order 63." baekhyun almost whispers. once he leaves, kyungsoo bursts out laughing, gasping for air. he can finally die in peace.
"did you see your face? it was so ugly and you look like fatty tuna with your red ass face!" he goes on, cracking up the more he thought about it.
"shut the hell up kyungsoo." baekhyun balls his fists up. however, he couldn't hold his anger for long. the man's deep voice and stunning good looks caught him in a trance, despite not having his glasses on.
"this is how i feel whenever you laugh at me." he deadpans.
"fuck outta here, you penguin." baekhyun growled, looking away as his hands meet his hair to ruffle it. "god damn it, why did i have to look so ugly out of all the days?" he mumbles, stomping against the ground with his left foot.
"are you gay or something?"
he turns his head to find kyungsoo's face right up against his, surprising him. "go make the drink already!" he pushes the brunette toward his station with embarrassment all over his face.

the morning soon turned into the evening, and his fellow part time workers grew tired, and so did he. sadly, it was his turn to close up the shop. the time read eight at night on a hot september day, nearly coming to an end. the petite male began to wet the cleaning towels, ready to wipe down the tables, but before he could get to work, he noticed a familiar figure seated in the corner of the restaurant.
his cheeks responded with a pink tint after witnessing who it was.
he cautiously approached him with kind eyes, something kyungsoo would react by totally punch him in the gut for. reaching the table, the timid boy said. "the shop is closed, sir."
the other looked up, showing off his good looks with a short smile. "sorry for the bother, i'll go." he replied, frank although it felt like he didn't mean it.
"come again!" he shouted as the mysterious good looking boy left the place.
finally, in complete peace. he sighed and sat his butt against a nearby table and spaced out. his arms supporting his weight by gripping onto the edges of the table behind him. abruptly, a ringtone he recognized vibrated in his back pocket. it was his favorite song.
"hello?"
"is this byun baekhyun?"
