baekhyun froze in his position, a look of surprise stamped across his face. he was in fact dumbfounded, not knowing what he should say next.

"take a picture, it'll last longer." the other rolled his almond shaped eyes.

baekhyun sat, unmoving as he blinked endlessly. "are you usually this rude?" he cautiously asked with curious round eyes.

hair falling over his eyes, lu han opened his mouth to retort. however, the teacher interrupted their sweet moment. "you two, be quiet or else i'll have your seats changed!"

baekhyun slid his body back to facing the whiteboard, obediently. a scoff from the boy behind him reached his ears. he's interesting, baekhyun had to admit. to him, he gave off that bad boy persona and although baekhyun would rather not stick by him throughout the year, he decided he should at least hang around someone before he could find some new friends for the time being.

as the teacher taught on the whiteboard, his mind drifted back to lu han's straight platinum blonde hair, which was parted to the far right. his hair was long enough to shield away his eyes. it was brave of him, really, deciding to break the school's strict dress code by dying his hair a funky color. it looks good on him though. another thing he noticed about lu han was his creepily feminine features, from his eyes to his nose to his lips. baekhyun shook his head, how does one look so much like a girl? the whole image of a kind female was ruined with his aggressive attitude.

the sounds of bells charming snapped him out of his deep thoughts and he noticed that his chair was kicked against one last time before the boy, lu han took long strides out the classroom. surprised, baekhyun quickly gathered his things and held it close to his chest as he caught up to the prick.

"hey, wait." baekhyun breathed, right behind lu han's tail.

the said boy whipped his head around, and so did his luscious locks. "what are you doing." it didn't necessarily come out as a question, but more of a grunt.

"i just want to say that..." baekhyun trailed off. what did he want to say? why did he follow this jerk all the way in front of his own classroom. why didn't he go to his?

"we should sit by each other during lunch." he offered one of his rectangular smiles, layered in innocence and friendliness.

"tuh." lu han spat, turning his heel around and cooly walking into his classroom.

"see you later!" baekhyun didn't take his action to heart, his spit didn't even reach him, fortunately. he noted in his mind that he would keep persevering, in attempt to become the boy's friend. he could use a friend right now as well. baekhyun sat in his class, as if a lone wolf. isolated in the back of the class, he watched his classmates socialize with each other. the only thing you could hear was chatter, not even your own breath.

baekhyun's eyes wandered to each person out of boredom. in all of his 3 years of high school experience, he barely made any friends. it wasn't like he was antisocial, but baekhyun felt that he had better things to attend to. he also noted in his mind that he didn't like other kids for their flawed and foul personalities. so, in order to stay away from kids like that, he resulted in keeping his mouth shut and appear as boring as possible so no one would approach him.

staying quiet wasn't as hard as baekhyun had thought, as he never stopped talking at his workplace with kyungsoo. whenever one of his classmates blurted out profanities and talked back to the teacher, he rolled his eyes. and he didn't like rolling his eyes.

from a stranger's perspective, byun baekhyun sure did look like a happy go lucky kid. if not, a social butterfly judging from his crescent shaped eyes when he smiles, or maybe his polite attitude and not to mention his unique but laugh in which brings warmth to others around him.

it was a shame his school had never seen such.

he was just there. he knew that fact very well.

baekhyun pulled out his thick novel filled with adventure and romance. with his slim fingers grazing over the navy blue hard back cover, the student turned to the page he last stopped on. whilst taking his sweet time enjoying his reading time, a group of girls and boys walked up to where he was seated. oblivious, baekhyun flipped to the other page before noticing multiple pairs of feet rooted to the ground.

"can i help you?" his soft voice broke the silence that was held in the air after a while.

one of the three girl smiled. her long wavy black hair framed her pale face. her bright red lip tint was very noticeable. in fact, it was the only eye catching thing about her, otherwise, baekhyun would've resumed reading.

"do you want to sit with us, we're supposed to form a group of six." she pointed at their table, a good distance away from where baekhyun sat.

contemplating for a second, baekhyun shrugged. "okay."

he knew that they thought that baekhyun would be a pain in the ass to sit with.

probably because he didn't talk one bit during most of the entire class period.

"um, so baekhyun." the red lipped girl, baejin started. "are you new here?"

"no." he replied, curt, leaning back into his seat, avoiding eye contact.

"oh..."

"do you like reading?" another random question was asked by a boy, heechul. "i like reading too, preferably magazines. with girls, of course. naked-."

"i don't like reading." he lied. "it's just for passing time."

silence washed over, and he could sense everyone was tense.

"what the fuck-." heechul bursted before his mouth failed to make a sound after the other boy, jisung placed his hand over it.

"stop cursing." he hissed, glaring at his friend.

the three girls awkwardly chuckled. very awkwardly.

baekhyun was the only one who felt completely relaxed. he felt himself rub his eyes, letting a yawn escape his lips. "why didn't you invite someone else to sit over here. why me."

the group of friends looked at each other.

heechul sarcastically raised his hand before saying. "we didn't want you here, but the girls thought you were cute." he deadpanned, crossing his two arms.

baekhyun shot a glance toward the flustered girls. "hey! you make us look like we're desperate or something! we just wanted to make new friends." baejin pouted, both an angry and embarrassed expression decorated her face.

shaking his head, baekhyun let out a short laugh. "well, i don't make friends."

the situation was weird. mainly because he realized that he acted as if he was the bad boy. as if he had taken over lu han's signature persona in front of these kids and when he was with lu han, he acted like the group in front of him.

dismissing the thought, baekhyun swiped up his things, standing up from his chair right as the bell rang. not even bidding his goodbyes as a polite person would do, he left.
