Ashlyn's POV
Not one word. No texts, no calls, nothing. Tony and I hadn't talked since the last call, and it had been around 4 days. 4 days of Alan pestering me. And of course, today found me stuck at work with the ginger devil himself. "Ash.... Ashlyn!" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Alan. "We have customers. Go greet them, please stop thinking about it if you're not going to do anything."
I sighed and nodded, mumbling a sorry before walking around the counter and going to the aisle where a young girl was standing. "Hi. Can I help you find anything specific?" I asked in an overly chirpy tone.
She turned her head, her black hair covering her eyes in a fashion that screamed she had cut it herself just to piss off her parents. I could understand completely. "Yeah. Um, do you have any Slipknot?" She asked. "Also.." She trailed off, smiling nervously. "I-is that really Alan?"
I smiled warmly at her. "Yeah, it is. Don't be shy, he takes well to fans. Also, here." I showed her about two rows down, where we kept all the older music, including Slipknot. "I'll alphabetize these, since they seem to be out of order, you can get him to ring you up. Just be respectful, remember him and Austin are married."
Her eyes lit up, and she smiled wider. "Don't worry, I'm happy for them! Thank you!" She said, and ran off with her CD. I start alphabetizing random CDs that have been left out of place and I can hear the girl talking to Alan, telling him about how many of their concerts she's been to, and stuff like that. I smiled, happy that most fans that came through this shop were mainly respectful toward both Alan and Austin, and even complimented the other members of the band as well.
As soon as she left, Alan yelled out. "Closing time! Come on!" We rushed around, closing up the doors, making sure there were no cats inside of obscure rooms, and finally leaving. We were about halfway home when Alan sighed. "Ashlyn..."
"Alan, please just drop it! I can't talk to him! He probably doesn't even want to talk to me anyway! He probably hates me..." I mumbled the last part, turning my gaze to my lap and wringing my hands together.
"Ash, he's not going to hate you. You should know how he is. At least just say hey. Just text him once, if he doesn't reply then that's that. Nothing lasts forever, maybe this wasn't meant to either, or maybe it was. You don't know til you try!" Alan urged. I huffed a sigh and stayed silent.
We finally got home and I rushed out of the car, called to Rogue, and let her follow me up to my room. "What the fuck am I supposed to do?" I asked quietly. Rogue just let out a soft mew, and rubbed her head against my hand. I sighed and looked at my phone. Maybe I should text him.
Hey. -Ash
I sat staring at it for almost five minutes. "No, it looks too serious." I muttered, then erased the period.
Hey :) -Ash
I shook my head. "That smile looks stupid."
Hey c: -Ash
I stared for a long time, then finally deleted the message all together and tossed my phone on the coffee table. I laid down in my bed, kicked my shoes off, and pulled the covers up, not bothering to get changed into pajamas.
-----
I woke up to the sound of a scream. I could feel the sweat on my forehead, and the chills down my body. I rested my hand on my heart, trying to get my breathing back to normal. "That was me." I whispered to myself upon realization that the scream had come from my own mouth. I heaved a sigh and ran my hands through my hair, hoping no one had heard.
Just my luck, the door opened, revealing Austin. "Ashlyn! Are you okay? I heard screaming." He whispered anxiously.
"Fine, fine.. It was, um-- just a dream." I explained timidly. Austin walked across the room and knelt beside the bed.
