"Ric, we're about an hour away. We need to fill him in before the other students lay eyes on him," Hope said into the phone. I had drove the whole time and had only made Landon sick one time with the speed at which we were going. "I'll let the family know," I heard him say. I stuck my hand out for the phone. "Artemis wants to talk to you," Hope said. She handed me the phone and looked away. We hadn't spoken a word since we had picked Landon up. "What do you need Artemis?" Ric asked. I sighed. "Everyone but him," I said quietly. I couldn't take the alpha male wolf that would come out in Ben. He would be a distraction. "Are you sure?" he asked. "Very," I responded quickly. "Alright, I'll keep him occupied," he said. "Thanks Ric," I said hanging the phone up. "Who is him?" Landon finally asked from the back seat. I gripped the steering wheel tighter. I hadn't exactly told Landon who I was referring too and I wanted to keep it that way until Landon understood what was at stake. "You'll find out," Hope said staring straight ahead at the windshield. I frowned. Hope and I were alphas and we could sense other wolves that were around us. That's when a light bulb went off. I almost wrecked the car. "Hope," I breathed. I turned to look at her face and she stared at me in confusion. "We have to discuss something separately," I said. She nodded and I hit the gas sending the car speeding down the road faster than what I had originally been driving. I caught a glimpse of Landon flying from one side of the car to the next and then I heard him puking in the bag we had given him. I smiled.
The sun had risen and with it our return to Mystic Falls. We parked the car a few miles from the entrance and disguised ourselves as we made our way to the house. Once we entered we headed straight for Ric's office. I opened the door and the whole room was crowded. The family was here and I noted that Ben was not. I sighed in relief and let down my cloaking spell. It revealed us three. "So this is Landon," my father said after a brief moment of silence. I could tell that him and my mother was different. They were almost fully immortal. "Who are you?" Landon asked. He was a little too snarky in his question and my father's eyes changed quickly. "Dad, leave him be," I said. Landon's eyes widened. "So all of these are family?" he asked. "Well duh," Lizzy said from the sofa. I rolled my eyes but Hope snarled lowly. It shut Lizzy up. "Landon these people are family, every single one of them. Damon is my father and Elena is my mother. Stefan was my father's brother and he was married to Caroline. Caroline is the mother to Lizzy and Josie and their father is Ric. Freya and Rebekah are Hope's blood aunts while Keelin and Davina are Hope's aunts through marriage. Vincent and Marcel are uncles to Hope through marriage and Kol is her blood uncle. She has a cousin that is around here as well," I stated. "And he is so fine! I'm trying to get him to ask me out," Lizzy said looking down at her nails. I almost lost my shit right there. Hope helped me control myself.
"What is the important news?" Ric asked looking between me and Hope. "You know how alphas can feel other wolves?" I asked. Ric nodded and frowned. He hadn't put the puzzle pieces together yet. "Well, Artemis figured this out on the way home, almost killing us," Hope said smiling. "When we were tracking Landon, our wolves could feel him. Not just because of the mate bond," I said. What I was implying dawned on Ric. "He is a wolf," Ric said. "Bingo," I stated. My father smirked and looked at my mother. "Wonder where that comes from?" Caroline asked, looking at my father. He held his hands up in mock surrender. "Wait a minute. I'm not a wolf," Landon said. "You are," Keelin said softly. "You're a wolf?" he asked. "I'm the last of my blood line, well, except for my son," she said. "After that piece was put together, I thought that maybe if we can get him to connect with it we could find out what bloodline he was from and track his biological father down," I said. "How do you know my wolf comes from my father?" Landon asked. "Because there is no way in hell your mother is a wolf," I said. "And why couldn't she be?" he asked. He was getting defensive. "Because she is the one that keeps bringing these monsters after that stupid knife. Do you know that we found out that the knife was the first key to letting her out? The second key is me and the third is you and Hope?" I asked. Everyone quieted down because I had picked up on the footsteps that were racing down the hall toward Ric's office. The doors were flown open and there stood Ben. He was shirtless and his fangs were out. He was pissed off and his wolf was in control. Before I could stop him, he was lunging at Landon and they were flying through the wall. Everyone froze. I started to jump toward them but Marcel grabbed me. "You don't get in the middle of a fight of alpha male wolves. Especially when they are fighting over a mate," he said. I stared in horror as Ben started to transform from human to wolf. He would kill Landon. Hope was being held back by Rebekah. "Please stop," she screamed. She couldn't command Ben. That's when I realized that Landon was changing. This was bringing out his wolf. Bones snapped and he started to change. Suddenly there were two wolves facing each other. Ben was solid black and Landon was solid white. I stared. Hope's wolf was solid white. My wolf was unique. It was multi-colored with red, black, white, silver, and white. "STOP!" I snarled. My eyes had started glowing and my fangs had elongated. Both males stopped and turned toward me.
"Shift back!" I snarled. Both instantly morphed and my father threw them some clothes. "I'll kill him if he lays a finger on you," Ben said staring at me. I swallowed. "She is my mate," Landon growled. "There is something else," I said softly looking at Landon. "One of us would be mateless when the bond was broken. He is my second chance mate. I have a bond to him as well," I said. Landon stared at me and then he looked toward Ben. "You want him?" he asked. "He is exactly like me," I stated. Landon frowned. "He was made by Keelin's egg and Freya's egg fusing because of Freya' magic. Vincent is his father. That makes him a third wolf, a third witch, and a third vampire," I stated. Landon stood shell-shocked. Then he turned to look at Hope. "So you are my rightful mate?" he asked. Hope nodded. He smiled. "We have to break the bond between Artemis and I. Tonight," he said. I sighed. "We could do it tonight," Freya said. Tonight was the big event of the moon. I nodded. It was perfect timing. "And then after that is done. We will celebrate. I will have a mate," Ben said. My father was quick to intervene. "Hell no," he said. My mother grabbed his arm. "She's sixteen," he said. My mother raised her eyebrow at my father. "Sounds like someone I used to know," Caroline said. I smiled. "Dad, he'll be fine. I'll be fine. He's my mate," I said. He stared at me and then he looked at Ben. "Believe me, I took Klaus down multiple times, I won't hesitate to take you out if you hurt her," he said. Ben nodded. I could tell that he wasn't scared though. Tonight was the big event for the whole school and for me.
