7 Years Old
Mom: Nash wake up! You are late for school!
I rub my eyes as I slowly rise from the deep slumber.
*Flashback *
*I was watching Tom and Jerry when I heard my parents arguing
I turn up the volume because this is a daily routine
As I reach the end of my binge watching I hear my mom screaming, the younger me grabs the closest thing and runs to save my mom.
I see my father hitting her, trying to stop him I start hitting him with the object I grabbed on the way. *
So this is how my sleep was shortened and I got late.
In my house there's my mom, dad and my lil brother Sandy.
I start getting ready after the shower and leave for school.
I walk from the gate to the school building admiring the beautiful nature around me.
Art and music is my favourite class.
Finishing the day as usual I sit in the school bus.
When I returned home, my mom was still not back (she is a teacher in a college).
I see my dad watching TV and eating snacks, he didn't even bother to acknowledge me.
I change my uniform and get lunch for me and my brother.
Mom returns home shortly after.
Dad drags her to their room, I hear him demanding for money, mom got her salary today.
My 7 year old self can't do much so I just carry on with watching cartoons.
9 Years Old
Years passed with the same routine
My dad is still the same or maybe worse because now he broke some of my mom's bones. All I can do is cry, I am just 9 now what else can I do.
Me: Mom why don't you leave him, we will be happy without him!
Mom: My dear child I can't leave him, a woman can't live alone in this world and he's your father.
Me: But mom he never took any responsibility being with him is just a torture for us.
Throw him out of our home!
Mom continues getting abused by him.
The salary is not enough for the four of us
So mom is searching for a new job
A Few Days Later
Mom comes home happy,
Seing her smile makes us smile
I asked her the reason for the sudden change of mood.
Mom: You won't believe what just happened!
Me: What happened mom?
Mom: I got a job in a top university, but it's in another country so we are moving there.
Me: Really mom! I am sooo happy. (maybe I'll make some friends there)
Mom: I have spoken to your principal, we leave this weekend.
I was very excited to live in a new country
Maybe my life will change for the better and hopefully my mom will leave my father.
