CHAPTER 5

It has been months since we got to know about the new monstrosity my dad committed and there has been absolutely no word from him. I have successfully convinced mom to get the divorce, she'll be filing it tomorrow.
Right now we are at a park, being at home was too stressful. I sit on a bench with my mom while Sandy plays with other kids.
Watching the Flora around makes me  appreciate life, and nature. It's so heartbreaking that humans are killing animals and cutting down  tress for their own selfish use.
A light breeze ruffles my hair, the tress around are shedding leaves. Birds chirping in the trees and children running around laughing. I play with Sandy for a few mins then go back to enjoying nature.  Sandy is swinging on the swings, I read my book and mom is just watching Sandy with a smile. After a long time I see her relaxed and not stressed because of dad. It's crazy how fast time passes by. My life sure has changed and I love how it is now..

There's no support from my mom's family for the divorce but we had faith in our decision.

Few Days Later

'buzzz buzzzzz'

I slowly open my eyes and snooze my alarm clock. Rubbing my eyes I slowly get out of bed, brushing my teeth in the bathroom I realized that today is the day of divorce. Sadly I won't be going with mom to file it. I am proud of mom for being brave enough to do it after all her weak moments. I make breakfast, eggs and toast for me and Sandy and get ready for school. I take Sandy and get on the bus.

At the school I was distracted in the lectures overthinking. Karen asked me what happened but I didn't tell her anything because I didn't want to burden my friends with my problems, I wanted to face them myself.

The day went by as usual. In the last period I got into a fight with the school's bully but she convinced our teacher that she was innocent, she even cried to prove her point.
And thanks to her I got detention after school.
I had to clean the music room for detention and arrange everything in place.
As I was stuck with doing it I missed my bus so I had to walk home.
There was a shortcut through the woods to my home, since it was day time I didn't see any harm walking there.

Halfway through the forest I heard leaves crunching behind me, I turned around but saw no one, after some time I heard it again so this time I played dumb thinking that whoever or whatever it was won't follow me anymore.
When I reached the lake I sat on the side and dipped my feet in the water for a few minutes.
While I was looking through the clear water I saw a reflection of someone, I quickly got up and turned behind me, I was shocked to see the creepy man standing there but he vanished before I could blink. As soon as I put on my shoes, I ran out of the woods and didn't stop till I reached home.

When I stepped inside, I locked the door quickly and sat on the sofa, my heart was still beating frantically. When I calmed down I thought maybe I imagined him there because humans can't move as fast as he did.

I got up and removed the food from the fridge and put it in the oven to heat it. Sandy was at my mom's friend's place. So I ate lunch alone.
I was still a bit paranoid so after lunch I locked myself inside my room and distracted myself with my Xbox playing video games.
After a while I heard the front door open and my mom called my name.

I asked mom about her day and what happened in the court.

"The judge granted my appeal for the divorce but your dad is nowhere to be found, so he alerted the police to find him and make him sign the papers." mom said

"Don't worry mom, he will sign them. And we are together so you are not alone."

A few hours later I went out to play football with my friends.
I was getting better at playing and I kept making goals.
After the match I went back home and took a shower. I then had dinner and did my homework. When I was done with homework I read a book and went to bed.

Weeks went by and I had my finals soon.
It was a bit hectic preparing for the finals and other competitions but I had my mom's support.
Karen and Adam were my study buddies. We have a little fun while studying and we all were great at grasping the knowledge.

I did well in the competitions, result will be announced after the final exams.

Few Days Later

I am on my study leave but I am not studying that hard, I go out with my family everyday and give an hour for exam preparations.
So today we were at the beach side, sitting on the sand enjoying the breeze, the sound of waves give me inner peace, beautiful blue green ocean waves on the white sand, water so clear I can see through it, crabs, shells and stones. Collecting shells is my hobby, so I walk along the edge collecting shells, when I walk closer to the crabs the rush into their holes in the sands and I chuckle. After I collect enough shells, I return back to my mom and show them to her.

"Mom: They are pretty Nash." she says while smiling at me.

"I have a good news, the police just called me and they said, they found your father, they showed him the court order for the divorce and he's ready to sign it!" mom informs me and I jump in happiness.

"That's great mom, we should celebrate, let's have a mini party!",

"haha yes we will celebrate but after your exams Nash, and we will go on a vacation too." 

"Okay mom! I am so excited for the exams to get over."

A week later my exams have started and they are going pretty well, I might get A or A+ in most of them despite not studying that hard.

And I have won two of the competitions I took part in.

Life is going good and I hope it stays that way.

It's been weeks since I last updated but I had this stupid writer's block and now that it's lifted, I'll start updating twice a week.

I promise this book will get much more interesting and addictive.
