Chapter Ten

WOO, A YEAR LATE UPDATE!!!!

Recap:

Katherine and Luke went to a Black Veil Brides concert, despite what their stepfather (Steven) says. They got thrown out of the house and Katherine's mother, Sadie, was in a car accident (she was out looking for them). With nothing left to do, Katherine and Luke end up joining Black Veil Brides in an attempt to find Sadie's sister, Rose. A nurse from the hospital (Allyson) joins them too, as she's got family that live in the same town as Rose. BVB, Katherine, Luke and Ally make it to Greenbrier and they meet Ally's cousin, Kloe. Ally's father is sick with cancer.

Katherine and Luke manage to find Rose and it turns out that Jake is Katherine's biological father. Sadie and Jake were childhood friends and Jake left Sadie when he found out she was pregnant.

"I'm not comfortable with my band members knowing about this," Jake snaps.

"You're a dick. This isn't something you should hide," Rose retorts.

"They'll...ugh," Jake buries his head in his hands

"You two can stay here until your mother gets better," Rose smiles at me and Luke. We filled her in on why we were there and she looked shocked, but unsurprised, when we told her about Steven and mum. I can't believe they knew each other when they were younger.

"She can stay with-"

"Stay out of this, Pitts," Rose snaps. "You don't get a say in what happens,"

Jake looks disgruntled but doesn't say anything.

"We need to calm down," Jinxx says rationally. Him and Luke are having to be the voice of reason for everybody here. "Jake, you can't hide this from the other guys. We're a family okay? Family don't hide things from each other,"

"I know that okay? This is just so hard," Jake looks at the floor.

"You think you've got it bad, dad?" I ask harshly. "Do you?"

"I made a mistake, running away when your mother showed me you. A mistake I didn't regret to begin with but now I wish I had stayed. I wish I had been there for you,"

"Jake, I think you and Jeremy should go back to wherever you and the band are staying," Rose folds her arms. "Katherine and Luke are going to stay here with me. Don't argue with me, you bastard. You've done enough already,"

"I'll visit this afternoon," Jake mumbles and stands up. "Come on Jinxx,"

I watch silently as the two of them leave and house and I glance at my brother's face. He doesn't say anything and is fidgeting uncomfortably in his chair. "I don't know what to do anymore,"

"I'll tell you what," Rose folds her arms. "You're going to go upstairs and take a long shower. Then you're going to come downstairs and have something to eat. You've been through enough these past few days and you need a long rest,"

Luke is about to protest but takes one look at my Aunt's face and decides against it. "We haven't got clean clothes,"

"Borrow some of my fiance's. You're the same height so you'd probably fit in each other's clothes," Rose replies. "Katherine, you can have some of mine,"

"You're getting married?"

"Oh yes. Yes I am. I sent out the invitations to you and your mother ages ago but I never got a reply,"

"I never knew anything about it,"

"Steven," Rose mutters angrily. "Right, come on. You need some food down you,"

"I already had-"

"Sh. Stop arguing with me okay? You need some of it and then we're going to try and get your registered for a school,"

We go back to Allyson's house later in the evening, to get our stuff. There's a silent, uncomfortable atmosphere in the house and nobody is looking at either me or Jake. There's so much I want to ask him, but at the same time...I really don't want to talk to him.

"Ally and Kloe are at the hospital...their father isn't getting any better," Andy informs us sadly. "How did it, um, go?"

"Fine," I say coolly, and avoid looking at Jake/my dad. Luke is doing the same and I run upstairs to hastily get my things together. When I come back downstairs, I can hear two people talking in the kitchen. I shouldn't listen in on their conversation, but I can't help myself. I think it's CC and Ashley.

"This place brings back such bad memories from when we were ten," I hear CC say.

"Sh. It'll be all over soon...is that someone outside?" Ashley replies

"Quick, leave and act natural," CC says quickly.

The kitchen door swings open and I immediately pretend to be rummaging in my bag for something. I smile awkwardly at CC and Ashley, who return the gesture. I follow them into the living room, feeling confused for about the seventh or eighth time today.

CC and Ashley have been to Greenbrier before...and CC is around the same age as Jake. Which must meant that they would have been here around the same time my mum, Rose and Jake were here.

SHORT UPDATE BUT IT'S BEEN A YEAR.

AND I AM SO SORRY, HOLY HELL. I swear I haven't purposely neglected this story it's actually been on my mind for AGES now. As well as Kiss Me Again and Waking The Cursed...ugh, I'm so bad at these updates! I have a good reason though, and that's my other story on my account ( calithekiller2  ) has taken priority. However, I will be returning to my fanfictoins for the foreseeable future! Expect updates!!!!

Once again, I'm so sorry for the wait. I love you all! 💜

Quick question for the future: do you guys prefer quick updates but short chapters...or long updates and long chapters? It would be extremely useful to know 😘
