The Secret Behind my Eyes

Not a Fantasy

I was walking into my house when all i can hear is my dad screaming at the Tv. I realized that my life isn't a fantasy. I can't have the perfect life with the perfect boyfriend and perfect family. All of it is just a dream. I try to avoid my dad as much as possible. Last time i tried talking to him was a couple of weeks ago as he left a bruise on my right arm and a scar across my face. He is a 43 year old man that is an abusive alcoholic. He terrifies me every time i look at him. So thats when i knew, if i really liked Josh, i was either gonna have to take a chance of getting hit or take a chance of sneaking out. I ran up to my room and just laid in bed thinking about my mother. One tear ran down my face. Next thing i know, i had waterfalls just flowing down. When i was 7 my mom was in a bad car accident. As she was coming down the highway, a 18 wheeler rammed into the side of her making the car run into a median. It split the car in half, while she was thrown out of the car and onto the road. We were all so depressed to think that we lost out mom... i barley see my brothers anymore and my dad has turned into a complete mess, not to mention he is a single father raising three. My mom always told me to follow my dream. and that was the only reason I'm still here today.

******* 1 HOUR LATER *******

I finally have enough courage to go tell my dad. As i walk down the stairs, the only thing that's running through my head is, " follow my dreams, do whats best for me." My heart is literally beating out of my chest. " Okay so here goes, " i mumble to myself. I reached the living room and saw him passed out on the couch with the tv remote in one hand and a beer in the other. So i run back up to my room, take a shower, put on my high-wasted shorts and white crop-top that says " Smile " then, throw on my black cardigan and put my black converse on. Then i realized my hair looks a mess! So i quickly find the curling iron and curl my hair. I put on some light makeup, got some money and walked downstairs. There is one problem. My dad woke up and i have to pass the living room to get to the door. I rushed up to my room and was try to think of ways to sneak out. I was thinking what if I could sneak out my window but then realized, there was no way to get down there safely. * beep beep * I got a text from Josh saying, " ill be at your house in 10 minutes to pick you up ". Crap! I whispered to myself. My brothers room is downstairs, maybe if i asked him, he would let me go through his window. I go downstairs and walk to his room without my dad noticing and knock on his door. He didn't answer. So I open the his door and saw the window open. "He snuck out, " i chuckled. Well it looks like dad is on his own tonight. So i crawled through his window and ran to the front. I waited on the porch for Josh to come pick me up. 4 minutes have passed as he is showing up in a black mustang. I walk up to the car as Josh is getting out to open my door. " Wow you look amazing. " His mouth only said 4 words but his eyes said a million. " Thanks, so do you. What movie are we gonna watch? " i asked like if i had no clue. I already could tell we were gonna watch a action movie. He said, " do you want to go see a horror movie? " I quickly jumped up and said, " yes! I love scary movies! " he said, " haha okay. " So we get to the movie theatre and i go buy us some popcorn and soda while he is buying our tickets. We got in, the movie hasn't started yet. And its already packed! So we had to get our seats in the very back.

We are in his car driving back to my house. As we are driving on my street we see smoke... I'm getting nervous and Josh is speeding to get to my house and see if everything was okay. There are flames in my house! we rush out of the car as Josh runs into my house while I'm too busy calling 911 to notice. I look up and he's gone. The fire just reached the second floor.

Dispatcher ~ " 911 whats your emergency? "

Me ~ " my house is on fire and my dad and boyfriend are in it! "

Dispatcher ~ " where is your location? "

Me ~ ( tells location )

Dispatcher ~ " okay we are sending help right now "

I'm shaking so bad! my eyes are balling and i don't know what to do. Finally the firefighters are here. While a few firefighters were hooking up the hose there were a couple going in the house. I couldn't see anyone in there. It was to smoky.
